I think Martinez would beat him. Nasty match-up and Mayweather is clearly past his best now. He'd be out-manoeuvred consistently by a bigger man who can match him for speed, and he'd rain in combinations from the wrong stance all night.

    Still, fascinating fight historically.

Yes. He was slower than he's ever been, more flat-footed than he's ever been, and would never got caught with those shots in Round 2 in his prime.

It was a great win and a great performance because Mayweather is a great fighter. Doesn't mean he wasn't showing signs of being a little over the hill athletically.

It's interesting but not hugely so, comfortable win for Mayweather. Where does Martinez have an advantage?

Pacquiao is the only fight I'm really bothered about.

Are you having a laugh? His handspeed and reflexes looked better than ever last night. Yes he got caught with a few punches, but it happens at the top level and has happened to him before. What's more important is he adjusted amd made sure it didn't happen again.

He has a significant reach advantage. He also has a better jab than Mosley which is the punch that utilises the superior reach.

This is a huge fight. Floyd could make this fight at 154 or even make it at 160 and have a serious legacy. He is a much better fighter than Martinez.

Good fight. Winnable for PBF as his skills are better.

If he wants to be considered better than SRR then he would have to go up to middle & win titles. SRR went from light to light-heavy..............

Bleh reach, reach is nothing when confronted with superior speed and/or timing and Mayweather has the best in the business in those departments.

Martinez's isn't really an authoritative jab I think he'd need to bother Mayweather, you need a Vernon Forrest/Winky Wright jab.

Vernon Forrest(may his perfect soul rest in peace) was a very good fighter but there was a blueprint to beat him. PBF would have found a way to defeat both him and Winky Wright.

Only person who beat him close to his prime was Mayorga, by brutal K.O.

This is a great match for Mayweather.

Martinez is a former WW and a counter puncher, so the size won't be that much of an issue.

If it was some hulking MW who rehydrates to 175 and was gonna walk Mayweather down then he'd need to leave well alone, but this is a great match up for him.

I think this is a good one. I thought of it myself some time back, I ereally think Mayweather's slickness will be too much for Martinez.... Paul Williams on the other hand is a different story all together!
