This could actually be quite interesting from a stylistic point of view. I haven't seen Floyd go up against someone with a very tight, proven/effective shell defence like Clottey. (And if he has, then it must have been years ago now.) Floyd is so used to countering and boxing off the back foot...it's where he's most comfortable, and it's also where he shows his full potential as a boxer. He can definitely play the role of the aggressor too -- he used to do it a lot at the lighter weights, and even did it to Shane at points, but he's always better when he's playing the matador to the bull.

Clottey is so defensive that Floyd would have to attack consistently and shoot combinations to get around that guard...this would leave him more open to counters. Floyd would probably win, but remember that Clottey is very tough and is a generally good fighter. He switches well from body to head, he has decent handspeed, he can throw some sharp shots when he wants to, and he has some nice uppercuts and straights. He was far too gunshy against Pac, but I bet he would be more adventurous against the much lighter hitting Floyd. A lot of Floyd's shots would probably get caught on the gloves, so Floyd would be bodypunching more than he usually does...it wouldn't be an action fest, but it would be interesting from a style point of view.

PBF would actually be active as he tends to when he is confident he cannot be hurt.

    11 - 1 PBF.

PBF schools Clottey and doesn't lose a round to him. Clottey is too stationary and too defensively minded to beat PBF.:deal

We have clottey vs Zab Judah as a blue print for what he can do to a quick slick counter puncher. He destroyed him.

Yes Mayweather is a better version of Judah but still, it could be a good fight. Too many people here are basing clottey on the Pacman fight. What his other fights and you'll see he's a tough fighter that would cause him trouble

Agree - Floyd would be favourite, but as floyd has never fought this style before its hard to know for sure.

The most boring fight that could possibly be made outside of Wladimir Klitschko-Audley Harrison. Mayweather strolls to a wide UD probably taking every single round.

A fight with 200 punches thrown combined!!!

Tough fight for Gayweather because he thrives on the other fighter attacking, not initiating the action. Like what he did to JMM where he waited for a counterpuncher to be the aggressor.

Mayweather is not an Arum fighter, so Clottey would actually throw punches and win! Unless of course, the next fight would be a big money fight involving Mayweather and an Arum fighter....
