Did Mayweather's legacy improve or worsen last night?

  1. Improved considerably. He beat a bigger, younger, fighter and breaks Marciano's record. 50-0!

    3.1%
  2. Improved a little, as per the above.

    15.0%
  3. No change - this was basically an exhibition fight.

    58.3%
  4. Worsened a little - see below

    9.4%
  5. Worsened considerably. An 0-0 novice got to the tenth round & won several rounds vs "The Best Ever".

    14.2%

You are severely underrating Marciano's accomplishments. He was 49-0 at heavyweight.

Very true. This thread is, however, simply about the value (or lack of value) of the last win over MacGregor.

i dont think im underrating, just dont see why its such a major deal with Floyd passing it. Its not like floyd has feasted on bums. I understand what you say about heavyweight as its a stronger more risky catergory but i think floyds weight in this era was just as dangerous.

Saturday's boxing match between Mayweather vs McGregor was a fantastic bout and I thoroughly enjoyed watch it! It was the compelling story of one of the most feared mixed martial artist in the game right now against one of the most a savvy boxing veteran's of all time. In the aftermath of the bout much has been made of McGregor's surprising ability to compete for 10 rounds, which I believe has over shadowed what really happend that night.

I wanted to show some appreciation to Mayweather the boxer. He as a person has some things I don't agree with, but his accomplishments as a boxer are worth highlighting. He just beat Marciano's record by going 50-0, 21 years undefeated, won 26 world title fights, beat 24 world champions, won 15 world titles in 5 weight classes. His accomplishments will not be surpassed for a long time. On Saturday Mayweather showcased much of boxing's technical capabilities,by defeating a world class fighter who is is athletic, younger, stronger, and outweighed him by 20 lbs. Behind all the boxing technique is a tough fighter.

I thought both men were able to elevate both of their sports and show case that MMA fighters can strike, where as boxing is much more complex than throwing two fists. I am really hoping that boxing has now gained new fans as a result! I really love boxing because there a many levels of mastery and I find the strategies fascinating!

Is it possible to be both a skunk and a snake, like some sort of skunksnake that just slithers around eating it's own **** all day? Anyway, so long Snoreweather McDouche Jr. You always were my favorite wifebeater.

I feel sorry for you if you say you're a Floyd fan and think he showcased much of technical capabilities on Saturday. Floyd boxed at 15%-20% of capabilities and that still more than enough against the mma two division champ.

Actually I agree, I think Floyd used about 15-20% of his capabilities. If you read my post more carefully I was stating that he showed what boxing skills can do against a larger athletic opponent. I am a fan of the sport and not so much any individual fighters, but credit must be given where credit is due. Mayweather paid his dues to be an ATG. I didn't agree with all his career choices, but he is an ATG none the less.
