Great post - you know ypor stuff.

 

Good post - except Mike really wasnt all THAT great a body-puncher in reality.Neat nickname - but many guys were/are better bodypunchers. For example, where do we see Mike ko a top middleweight with a single body shot (a la GGG - Macklin).

Mike was really more of a top class stand-up boxer. At his best at 154. At 160 I doubt he beats GGG.
But I could be wrong.

Tiozzo was a youngster (24 or 25) when he defeated McCallum, who was damn near 40...!!!



McCallum had his fight with a monsterous puncher, and in that fight he KO'd Julian Jackson in 2 rounds...!!!

But much of what you say occurred with fighters who spent their prime at 154. Thats important to bear in mind.
GGG ko's full career middleweights - bigger men than Mike faced - especially with the day-before weigh-in nowadays.

 

Prime, McCallum, Nunn, Roy and Toney would take GGG to school.. McCallum would have a field day with his great jab

GGG took 11 rounds to put away Murrary.

McCallum took 11 rounds to put away Michael Watson on his back. There's a large gap in levels there.

3Gs opponents have all been non punching weaklings on top of it.

Murray wouldn't have stood up for 11 rounds to the body assault Watson took from the first round on.
