just watching boxnation rerun from the weekend and quite impressed by McKinson. Very unorthodox, quick hands and good feet. Probably lacks a bit of pop but seems to hit hard enough to deter opponents considering he’s rarely planting his feet.

Be interesting to see how he progresses on the British scene.

Anyone else catch his fight with McNess?

I watched his fight with Lynes, very awkward fighter. Can see him getting to British level no problem and also having some success at Euro level

Still young though so who knows

I have been to a couple of his fights and was very impressed with him. He is very technical and is not scared to be the away fighter in hostile environments. The only thing he lacks is power which might hold him back but definitely needs a decent break with more tv coverage.

Doubt he gets beyond British level, if that.

Looks good so far but we havnt seen him fight anyone yet really.
His fight at the weekend was good against a half decent kid and also his fight against lynes who is well seasoned but coming off a 4year lay off and hardly has any ambition now.
He will be good to keep an eye on

Thought he looked very good, just watched it now.

Could be well off, thought some of his punches were a bit of a slap. But movement etc he looked very good.

Would worry someone would walk through him a bit

looks good but lack of power will likely be an issue down the line.

    McKinson UD.

McKinson was the clear winner in a competitive, sometimes messy fight. He edged most rounds, both had their success but McKinson was landing more and he was landing cleaner. Kelly was down twice in the 1st round but that was due to the legs getting tangled up with the orthodox vs southpaw stance, I think the 2nd time he was down he got a count but it wasn't a proper knockdown.

If I'm judging McKinson as a prospect then he has a lot of improving to do to even get close to British title level. He lacks power, wastes a lot of punches and his defence is quite poor. But he's fit and showed a good engine, he boxed and moved a lot for the whole 10 rounds, and he has a bit of speed in his hands. Lots of room for improvement which he said himself in his post fight interview, but that's not to say he won't.

Good win against a decent opponent -- but as you say lots to learn. Doesnt look to be the biggest puncher and could be bullied by some of the bigger fighters at the weight
