Dear Amir, You simply must start making regular trips to the USA for training/coaching if you wish to realise your ambitions. I am a massive fan of yours but your future development is of concern to me. I can see that you have improved since you turned pro but I feel most of this improvement is simply down to the extra experience rather than any noticeable increase in skills. Although many on ESB may disagree, I feel you could have beaten ALL your pro opponents(other than POSSIBILY Willie Limond) whilst you were still an amateur I have just watched young Paul Appelby, who has been to Freddie Roach's gym already, to be to honest, it shows!! I'm afraid to say his 'inside game' is better than yours and neither does he back away in straight lines.My guess is that he has learned these techniques(in which many British fighters are traditionally poor) whilst in America. How can working with one of the worlds top coaches and sparring the likes of Ray Bastua and Israel Vasquez not improve a young fighter on a steep learning curve? Your talent needs to be taken to the next level. Leave your comfort zone here and go and do it before your progress stagnates. DavidUK
Khan is under Warren which im afraid means if he beats Earl (whom I believe is shot ) then that victory will be used to feed the hype machine for the foreseeable future. Khan has not imo got nearly as much boxing skill as young Appleby but has decent speed and not bad power (then again, most of his opponents have been stopped against guys who were not known for power) Appleby tonight tried to please the cheering crowd and for a few brief moments in the fight he neglected defense and went all out but one thing I did notice is that he took a few tasty hooks to the jaw and didnt even flinch which ells me he is way above Khan in the chin stakes too.
these people knocking on Khan are so annoying. Calzaghe, Mayweather, Roy Jones, none of them faught a guy as tough as Limmon and Earl in there weight within 14 fights!
Calzaghe took on Mark Delaney in his 18th fight, and Him and delaney were the best 2 SMW by far in this country at the time. If Amir Khan fights the best Lightweight by his 18th fight, then hats off to him.
Jones fought Roy Amundsen in his 3rd fight , less than a year later Amundsen would fight for a World title . Jones fought Kevin Daigle in his 14th fight , in his fight before that Daigle fought for a World title . Calzaghe won the British title in his 14th fight , and Mayweather won a World title in his 18th(which Amir won't do) . I don't see anyone here complaining about his opposition , infact people are merely mentioning flaws and what he should do to correct them and that correctly Paul Appleby looks a better prospect . Alternatively we could pretend he's some future ATG till he gets chinned by someone who isn't World class(Thaxton) but most people on this forum like being realistic .
Khan has already recognised he will need to go to America to get some good sparring is. He says he will definitely do it. Traditionally British fighters are good on the inside. Look at our best fighters - Hatton and Calzaghe. They are two of the best at it in the world. Even if you take it down a notch to Woods, Harrison or down another notch to fighters like Moore. Khan is improving his game every fight - defence, picking his shots, pacing himself etc
i really don't understand why he doesn't already get regular sessions out there. i'd of thought warren would be looking for the best possible training to protect his investment.
imo he doesnt fight enough either, but he should be paying for him and a mate to stay in LA for at least 3 months a year. It would work wonders, if only because of the superb sparring opportunities

Hes fighting Earl the best lightweight in the country in his 14th, and 100% guarentee after he wins he will face Thaxton. I actaully feel Khan is the most under rated boxer out there some of you guys are gonna look so foolish when he wins a world title.
Amir has massive advantages over every single pro active in Britain, in that despite still being a near novice (as a pro) he is prime time Saturday night ITV viewing. But there is a down side: Amir has had to learn his (pro) boxing trade, warts and all in front of us all. Naseem was the exception to prove the rule (all he got was grief for being too cocky in the Belcastro fight), but Lennox, Bruno and Benn all suffered servere Amir like criticism on the way up as well, because all three, like Amir, fought on TV from virtually fight one. Yet in the end they all had fairly good careers. It is far too early to judge Amir... The Warren way of doing things sometimes pays off (Hatton); sometimes cocks up (Georgie Collins); time will tell. But that time will be I suspect two years (minimum) away. But then patience and internet, mixes as well as oil and water.
