what have they produced for david brophy? getting him a fight against a couple of journeymen? this isnt a dig mate but i really think that brophy needs to be stepped up and im sure you would want him to be getting stiffer test than what he has been given. i hope that their input means more shows in scotland.

i am also not so worried about the promotional side if it but the fighters that have went over there to train at the gym with their coaches. dont you agree that both iain butcher and steven simmons went backwards whilst there? also i know you rated bradley saunders highly but he has also went backwards when training out of mgm.

The gym is supposed to be top class, I haven't been yet but I am planning on going over. I think it's still a bit early to be writing off the gym and coaches because it takes time to build a stable and you need the right fighters coming through the doors. I do think that permanently staying in Marbella could be a factor, imo using it as a training camp where you are only there for the heat, boxing gym and not the lifestyle that goes with Marbella is fine. Like Billy Joe Saunders who travels over for a few weeks before his bouts.

Danny Vaughn is a good coach imo and what happened with Bradley is more down to his hands than who has been coaching him. He has done a good job getting Derry Mathews to the position he is now, and could have a world champion in his stable if Derry can take his opportunity when it comes.

I'm a fan of the set up to be honest. Whilst it's obvious that it's a front for various other goings on in the underworld out there, I think it's a decent set up and I've never heard a bad word said by anyone who's been out there to train.

As Billy has said, their introduction of MGM Scotland has also breathed a breath of fresh air in to the Scottish scene.

They are still very much in their infancy as a gym, 2 years is nothing, so they're only going to have more success as time goes on.

I have been there and it is a 'state-of-the-art' gym as far as facilities and equipment go. Its very early days to be writing the palce off, maybe if they got just one big name success story it might turn things around.
About Marbella (Its actuallly Puerto B****, but anyway!) - its a great holiday place but Im not sure its the best place to put a boxer long-term, lots of distractions and too hot for hard training runs etc etc....

Ask Kugan and the crew at IFLTV.They appear to be very tight with the MGM.

Seen plenty of there boxers partying in pictures in places like Ocean beach club etc, with what look like gargle in there hands. I know for a fact if I was over there the pull of the strip.
