Gomez is as hard as nails. He's not just a scrapper though. He has a nice variety in his attacks and works the body along with the uppercuts very well. His heart, grit and pure agression are usually on display for all to see. His story is incredible - I think they are making a film about him. His victory of Arthur was sensational. On the flip side however, when he seemed to just quit against McDonough in one of the weirdest endings to a fight I have ever seen. Gomez is shot now. All the wars have caught up with him so Amir should have him for the taking. I know who I'll be rooting for.
I think that fight was thrown, Gomez was winning easily and just turned around and walked away in round 5 (I think the last round at least is on Youtube), the odds on Gomez losing in the 5th dropped from 125-1 to 18-1 by fight time...
I would have given Gomez a chance due to Khan's apparent chin problems, but that myth was crushed by Rosenthal and McGuigan the last time Amir fought: 'There's been one or two questions raised about the old whiskers, regarding Khan. You heard where he was born/Where his parents are from/where he spent the first few years of his life . Gomez is a Mancunian , but his blood is 100% Irish . He's shot to pieces though so Khan should have him out of there within 3 :-( , such a shame . Prime Gomez would of chinned Khan .
