I think he’s more underrated at heavyweight, I feel he’s rated fairly at light heavyweight, he was inexperienced there and was outboxed by Leslie Stewart for a large portion of the fight. At heavyweight, he’s very underrated by most, he was a very well rounded fighter, maybe nothing that jumps out, but not bad at anything in particular.

I think he’s probably a little underrated yes. He was a light heavyweight who rose to a shark infested heavyweight division and had some success there. He engaged in some exciting fights and retired with a pretty good record

Moorer was a good fighter. He has the distinction of being the first Southpaw Heavyweight Champion so there's that. His skills were good, his power was good, outstanding right jab and a good right hook.
He seemed to lack confidence to let his hands go far to often. He did go down a bit but with that he usually got up. He got off the canvas more than once to KO his opponent to his credit.

I honestly can't say that I think he's underrated. He could be an excellent fighter, but Tyson of the light heavies, I consider him to clearly not be that. That's an example of how overrated he is there. His best might be underrated at heavyweight. That's a maybe but not exactly sold that he is at that. I think he'd be so all over the map against top tens in any era at heavyweight, and, I'm going to be saying this against the grain but most light heavyweight eras, if he had a real title, I don't know how long he holds onto it and the weight isn't going to help anymore than the talent. How long does he make that weight? He's not exactly a typical sized man there who made the big jump. Yes, he came up, but HW is a little more representative of what his natural weight is than light heavyweight, isn't it?

He was definitely a sight to see at light Heavy, exciting to watch.
He did well to win the lineal hw title, but obviously the poor showing by Holy field helped.
A win over George would have looked good too.
