Never heard the wbo part.He wasnt anything special.. I know he visited Monzon in prison and convinced Carlos to spar in the gym. The first shot Rourke took he was knocked unconscious.
mickey was a horrificly bad fighter, defence was all over the place and gave a reall ybad name for boxing at one point. he was a sideshow attraction...look on youtube of him in an exibition against tate...gets beaten badly. also i think he was pretty chinny. his wbo shot was real but it was a bit of smoke and mirrors. he would be awarded a shot win or lose. just becuase he was a celebirty, it wasnt a real fight, it would of been rourke vs Thompson or Rocchigiani. think buster douglas as special ref in wwf the same with evander and tyson, but his boxing career sparked off his acting career again.
He never clamied to be a really good fighter-just clamied he always wanted to try his hand at the pros.And for the record he left Holywood to pursue boxing.Didn't have the best skills but had alot of heart.
And no he didn't give boxing a bad name at all-thats pure bull****.Yes he attracted attention because of his name but is that his fault?
He had a few terrible, terrible robberies apparently, one nearly caused a riot, a draw I think where he'd actually lost quite badly.
