There is a famous saying which goes pretty much like this: Everyman has a war to fight, in life some of us don't find our wars. Some of us are wars find us, and we have no choice but to fight. On 26 of July last year, a war found Miguel Cotto. On November 14th, Miguel Cotto was beat down and punished by Manny Pac. Its been afew days since then, and ive ask myself why did it happen...? during the fight Miguel Cotto a man who's jab, moved Sugar Shane Mosley, a man who beat down Zab Judah into submission...he looked like he was more ruthless than Rambo...... On Novemeber 14th, Miguel Cotto was competitive. But i cannot get my head around the fact that, he never once hurt Manny Pac. Manny Pac was fighter who was getting knocked about at ****ing Super Feather Weight or Lightweight or whatever ****ing weight he used to fight at. And now Miguel Cotto, could not make a impact..? Many people will think i am making excuses or trying to take the credit away from Manny Pac.... But sometimes in boxing, there are fights....WARS. Where fighters loose their primes... And when you fight these fights, these Wars happen.. A piece of you stays their..... Many people think they know what War is..? But they don't... There's nothing glamorous about war, there's nothing right about taking a whole heep of abuse and punishment, but during war...men will bleed and....Men will be broken. I honestly believe Miguel Cotto left apart of himself inside of the ring against Antonio Margo, for all we know......both men will never be the same....? Just like Nigel Benn, Evander Holyfield, Muhammad Ali, Riddick Bowe... Miguel Cotto left apart of himself inside of the ring...... I think before Miguel Cotto retires, there's only one last War to fight. And that is to rematch Antonio Margo... Thats his War, his fight..... And he knows it...
no way. Margarito should never be allowed in the ring again. What that guy [allegedly] did is akin to attempted murder. I took great satisfaction watching him get his ass kicked by Sugar Shane. Cotto should take some time out and recharge - going 12 rounds with the Pac Man is a big deal. Just ask Oscar and Hatton...
Why not man..? Margarito beat Migeul Cotto fair and sqaure right..? Margarito has been in wars and won fights fair and sqaure..? Every man deserves the right to fight... Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito should settle their differences in the ring...
That's the thing. In my heart of hearts, I know there's a strong chance that he didn't beat Cotto fair and square. He had loaded gloves. The guy is a cheat. Besides, Cotto has said that he will never give Margarito another penny again (translation: he's never going to fight that stinking cheater). But i'll stop my rant because i figure the margarito gloves thing is old news. It just riles me up that's all. ps. I admit - it would be a great fight to watch. Cotto would go all out to brutally beat his ass.
There's some pics on the General Forum that was in a thread and i think they were taken from the HBO site screen shots of Cotto-Margarito and the wraps look highly suspicious. Plus the fact is why would you load gloves for a fight you the favorite in and if you beat Cotto fair and square you would believe in yourself so i think he did load the wraps. He's now just going to a name off the back of that...he forever be tarnished as a fighter imo. As for my boy Miguel...that wasn't the same Miguel Cotto that entered the ring a year ago for the Margarito fight..he boxed well on Saturday but he just didn't have the killer instinct and the power or confidence he once had...and anyone who says different is disagreeing with Freddy Roach...he took that fight because he knew Cotto wasn't the same man..i tried kid myself that he was back but sadly he wasn't the guy he once was. Manny was awesome so please don't think i'm taking the credit away from the greatman. I feel Miguel stayed in the ring on Saturday because he needed closure...he wanted to show people he had heart and wasn't a quitter...
Cotto is only young though man.. I think the old Cotto can return...!!! he just needs to take 7 months off.. With moderate training and a good living... Physically he cannot be a ruinned fighter... Well i hope not man.... A Pacman vs Cotto rematch, is not so crazy somewhere down the line. But i think Manny Pac will be ****ed over badly by the end of 2010. He's ****ed with the wrong division..!
Mate i really hope so to....as you say he's young but in boxing terms he's an old 29....the wars he's had from Corley Torres Malignaggi Judah Mosley (high level battle) Margarito Pacquiao...plus the weight draining he endured and also people forget he was in a bad car crash aswell. I wish he got himself a proper world class trainer for the Pacquiao fight...to be honest i wish he had a world class trainer for most of his career...how good could he of been. Cotto was like Tyson he was intimidating...a beast...a man not to be messed with and i feel once the aura is broken then these type fighters lose that edge. I think the Cotto of a year ago pre Margarito is someone Pacquaio would of avoided because Roach for all his bollocks at times...knows a fighter and knows when there weak.
The only way that piece of **** margo should be let back in a ring again is if he's tied up thrown in there and everyone who loves boxing gets a free shot with an metal bat. The man is a coward, a cheat and a criminal. I hope he rots in hell. Things like this should never be old news and no one who loves this sport should ever apologise for feeling passionately about it.
You are seriously deluded if you think the old Cotto can return. The last we saw of the 'old' Cotto was in the first 6 rounds against Margo...if he was going to get back to his best he would have already, yet now he has taken another pounding and you think he can still get back to his best!? I wish he could, but its not happening.
well said. Cotto is not the first boxer to face difficulties with a career sliding away. No-one can stay in their prime or at their physical best forever. Cotto's getting older. He has been in wars. He has psychological problems where he is clearly doubting himself in ways he never used to. His chin is much more fragile than before when he could absorb everything Shane Mosley landed (for example). His backroom staff are family members rather than expert masters of the game. To expect him to reverse all this damage in a fight with Margarito is naive in the extreme. And who is to say he would win now? He's not the same fighter anymore. He's a broken champion, and Margarito doesn't have any of these issues. All he faces is a few months out, and will still carry the same granite chin on his shoulders as before (probably).
