Being British I was cheering on Jonas. Going into the last round I thought the best Jonas could achieve was a draw. I never even thought she could get a hometown decision. I hope Mayer isn’t robbed of a rematch as well.

I saw the fight live. The only judge who was remotely close to a reasonable score was the 97-93 judge. I had it 99-91.

Jonas won 3 rounds....a blind man maybe could give her a 4th....but that was it!! 96-94 at worst.....97-93 or 98-92 most probable for Mayer

There was nothing close in 6 of those rounds....none of which Jonas won.

I looked at the fight, live. Mayer won it.
Some rounds were close because Jonas threw a few combinations in the opening 30 seconds, but she clearly lost the fight.
No way can anyone even rationale her winning 5 rounds. Give me the rounds and I will be able to prove you wrong on at least 1 of said rounds.

ESPN Boxing basically called it a very close even fight. No mention of a controversial decision. I didn't see the fight yet but based on the overwhelming consensus here I have little doubt that it was a robbery.

Over the years i have seen numerous comments saying boxing is corrupt and i normally take it with a pinch of salt. However after watching that i am starting to believe it to be true

    Yes.

It was a good example of too big too strong + father/mother time.

Mayer was really creating a distance on the cards in the last few rounds. She also stunned Jonas a couple of times during the fight, but 2 minute rounds don't give you enough time to work.

Sky commentary was just as bad. I think they were suggesting near the end that a draw was possible....and that was them clutching at straws!!! Too many hometown decisions in the UK these days for my liking

The fight was competitive, every round was fiercely contested, but having said that at best I could only give Jonas 3 rounds.

While all the rounds were competitive I felt that Mayer was the one dictating the pace. She was the one starting the exchanges and while Jones was firing back and landing plenty of punches herself, it was Mayer who was ending the exchanges too and making Jones retreat throughout and so even in exchanges when both were landing equally it gives the impression that Mayer was winning the exchanges. Plus Mayer was landing the bigger punches, which is something compubox can't reflect.

When rounds are that close it's things like aggression and ring generalship which can have one fighter edging rounds and in that regard Mayer was pretty dominant.

I don't think my scorecard reflects how closely fought this contest really was but boxing is scored the way it is, so Mayer should have won.
