You cant just walk into a hospital and expect a brain scan , if the NHS did that it would collapse. How many people do you know who complain of head aches. 1000s If things were that bad he should never have been in the ring in the first place. People close to him should have pulled him out of the fight.

I think they are the ones that need to be answering questions.
I am not blaming anyone for this tragedy but it does not sound like Mike should have been fighting that night. I always said he was too hard for his own good, ultimately this was the case. However I am sure I am not the only one in saying he was a joy to watch. He beat Michael Stupart in an amateur bout over 6 years ago in what is the best fight I have ever seen in the flesh. Rip Mike

This is not really something the NHS will scan for straight away.. They can't scan everyone that comes in with similar symptoms. I had a very similar situation where I went in for a challenge with a keeper.. Both clashed heads badly he was knocked out and I had a bad concussion. That night I was doubled over in pain couldn't tolerate light they gave me pain killers and sent me home. If his situation had worsened he would of went back.. I think the problem here is the people in boxing who did not step in and stop this fight from happening.. I have seen a lot of respected people in boxing making comments like Mikey should of told someone and saying it's not Boxing's fault.. If his trainer knew?? His manager knew?? The promoter knew?? Why did this fight happen. Was the Dr made aware? What did he do?? Can have all the safety procedures in the world but when it comes to people losing money safety seems to go right out the window.. I'm glad Chloe put the story straight and I hope the people responsible for letting this fight happen put their hands up and admit their mistake.. Nothing will bring Mikey back but boxing needs to change to stop this happening to anyone else
It was a terrible tragedy, and nothing will bring the poor guy back, like someone else said on here, if his coaches knew about it, they should not have let him fight, but again we can't constantly point the finger. If the poor man was in such a state with his pains, it just shows the bravery that he had knowing he had a problem, yet still fought on. RIP Mike
This is probably not the correct thread for this but.......... It's my understanding that pro boxers have to have an annual brain scan...... correct? When is that scan done? Is it on the anniversary of their pro registration and nothing to do with the timing of them fighting or having fought.......correct? Although I know that this is practically impossible should the Board take extra precautions or cognisance of boxers who fight with a certain style? The John Murray / Kevin Anderson type style. Clearly defensive masters such as Floyd will have less likelihood of suffering progressive damage than the aggressive "face first" style fighters.
