Just rewatched the fight, didn't tap to strikes, I must have been imagining things.

 

Granted, I can see how it might have looked that way, but he was not consious after about 15 of Hansen's ground strikes

I think he was trying to go for the takedown while the guy threw a knee at his head, it was an exhibition match anyways, Aoki would gogoplata him in a proper MMA bout
