On YouTube I found a 4 part set of the Monzon-Briscoe 2 fight that I'd never seen before. The quality sucks, and there's no sound but you can clearly see that Monzon OWNED Briscoe for the most part. True, Briscoe started fast and punished Monzon's body in those rounds, and staggered him badly in the 9th, but Monzon just took over after that. It was more one-sided than I recollected it. Monzon scored repeatedly with one-twos and moved and boxed in a way not always credited to him. I believe that he was a different fighter before '73 when he was shot twice by his wife at the time. He seemed more athletic and faster against Briscoe than he did in his latter defenses.

Peak Monzon performance. He hardly lost a round- a real 'matador taming the bull' job. I'd really like to see a better copy but all's I have is the one you're referring to.

Well thanks for supplying with that one then. I've always wanted to see that fight. Monzon became a great champion in that one, and you can bet the house that Briscoe was ready to be champion that night if it was anyone else but Monzon.

Monzon had gotten better, Briscoe had gotten older and worse.
