Morales comeback.

Would Morales feel the need to comeback to boxing if he had retired after his win over Pacquiao?...or even if he had retired after his first loss to Pacquiao?

I can't help but feel he has seen Pacquiao's success over recent years (even though he has been talking of a comeback for a long time), and wants a slice of it himself.

 

Goodluck to him but it's a big mistake, I feel.

Couldn't agree more. He's been in too many wars. I can see him possibly winning his comeback bout, then being picked off by a young, hungry fighter.

 

I very much doubt it's got anything to do with Pacquiao.

I seen an interview with Morales where he said his legacy in boxing is secure and that he's coming back bacause "I'm a fighter. Boxing is my life".

He's not coming back to re-write history or because of money problems. He's coming back because he's a fighter. It's what he does.

From the outside we can all see it's a mistake but he's my second-favourite fighter of all time and I'll cheer him on regardless.

 

There's no glory in a fighter of Morales past successes beating a guy with a record of 8-4 by scraping out a 12 round decision.

 

Ive heard him talking about a comeback a few times, but after seeing the size of him, I didn't believe he ever would step in the ring again. Just thought that maybe Pacquiao's success would have influenced his decision in some way.

 

...I thought it'd been confirmed that Erik is indeed making a comeback?

 

As far as I know he has an opponent lined up.

 

I hope he doesnt get embarrassed by some amateur, despite losing, I thought he went out in a warrior like way vs Diaz (even tho I thought he won personally), it would be a shame if he lost to a fighter lower than that, Diaz was bad enough, prime Erik losing to Diaz is something that would never happen in 100 tries for Diaz.

I hear he`s coming back at 140 lbs, he`s gonna need 2 things, his long range boxing & his chin, forget going to war with those guys, bad move.

I`ll be shocked if he has a successful comeback but I will be backing the man 1000%, just as I have been for the past decade.

Will we get to see this fight (I live in UK) or is this one of those low key things just to test if he still has it that sky wont bother with ?

I would watch him fight. he won me over as a fan.

 

He's fighting Jose Alfaro, March 27th if BoxRec is to believed. I know Erik is no longer contracted with Top Rank so I assume this will be a fringe PPV of sorts if anything. This is an unusually dangerous fight for a fighter on the comeback trail past his prime. To compare (because I must) Barrera took on 25-19 Sammy Ventura on his comeback which is probably the right move.

As for whether or not he'd retire after a Pacquaio win? I doubt it. I really think he wanted to do the 4 title division deal before MAB did and would've stuck it out regardless.
