Over on the scene Moreno's manager has confirmed they have received an offer to fight Haswgawa. However they are holding out for a bit more money. What a fight this would be! Bantam has got to be one of the most stacked divisions atm and what's more, all the top fighters are looking to fight each other. Showtime are having that tourney with Vic, Mares, Perez and Agbeko, Top Rank want to make Montiel-Donaire and now Hasegawa wants to fight Montiel! Showtime can do something really great here...Arum said he would put Donaire and Montiel in a straight knockout tournament, Moreno really wants to be a part of the tournament and Hasegawa would like nothing more than a Montiel rematch. So why don't Showtime expand their 4 man tournament to an 8 man tourney with quarters, semis and a final? Add Montiel-Donaire and Hasegawa-Moreno to the 2 fights already set and go on from there....:bbb
Get that **** on:woot. I was just thinking recently Hasegawa should be getting back in the ring soon. Also, Ish, Top Rank want to get Rigo a title shot at Bantam soon as well and Cordoba is being mentioned as his next opponent. Stacked division for sure.
Wow, Hasegawa has made a much quicker recovery than I thought he would :happy Bring it on, glad to see his team aren't going to waste time with 'confidence builders'. **** happens. This era could be legendary for this division, which already has some of THE great series of fights throughout the ages for any weight class. Let's hope the promoters show some balls and don't chase easy money rather than risky dollars, the next year or so could be immensly fulfilling just due to 118lbs.
As other have said Showtime should look to make it an 8 man tourney. This is is a great fight between number 2 and 3 at 118 both have experience and add to their resume. I like Moreno he has a great attitude, he goes anywhere to fight, takes on all corners and is very busy.
By far the best division in boxing at the moment. It would be a great fight, I fancy hazegawa to wear him down but moreno is defensively sound and would be awkward for him so in truth it could go either way
Wouldn't it be great if Sky's 'new era of boxing' started showcasing these guys. The division is absolutely **** hot and this could be a little period that's revered in years to come. Great fighters fighting each other, possible FOTY candidates everywhere you look. Let's get this **** on :bbb
Ya if some TV station started promoting a top division like this, you'd start getting casuals fans involved. Some of these lads could turn into breakout stars in the next couple of years and if they're on tv they'll bring a lot of fans with them.
