With boxing looking likely to be dropped from the Olympics there isn't much for him to stick around for. Amateur World championships dont have the same shine.
Think we’ll see more like this in the very near future with olympic boxing being scrapped. Without the olympics to aim for theres very little point in staying amateur if you’ve been offered big money to turn pro and have already been succesful albeit at junior level.
He’ll be 22 before he fights anyone with a pulse anyway so still time to learn in the gym sparring pros

They will gain some prestige as in its the biggest crown in amateur boxing but the Olympics is a huge stage shown all over the world potentially propelling you in to stardom and giving you great commercial opportunities
They are introducing belts to the Amateurs. Potentially it will become as coveted as the lineal title. The undisputed singular Amateur world champion. If they can get away from the corruption that is of course. Also it seems that AIBA are trying to blur the lines between professional boxing and olympic style boxing even more. Right now it's basically professional fights over 3 rounds anyway.
I wish the lad all the best. He is turning over early but with the way amateur boxing is going I understand it. In turning pro so young, after becoming world youth champion he is doing what Hughie Fury done.
It really isn't a big deal that he's turning pro so early. The pro game is far different to the amateur game, and if anything, it'll fast track his progress.
Exactly with Olympic boxing being dropped. The funding for amateur boxers won’t be there in the U.K. He will earn more as a learning professional as well as be a better professional boxer. A lot of top amateurs can never acclimatise to becoming a professional, and leave their best years in the amateurs. The big money is in the professional game if you reach the top.
