Most fighters never recover the skills they had after a beating like that. It takes away their heart. Hearns was the only man I ever saw come back from that kind of beating and be top level, although in the fight he lost (Hagler), he was competitive until he got tired, so maybe that was the difference.
Magarito still has the style to beat a lot of top contenders, but time will tell what will happen to him.
