Now here's something that a straight statistic on boxrec can't answer.

What fighters have the most stoppages from bodywork or even single bodyshots? Extremely curious to hear some names and what kind of rough numbers they've got.

If you're a big fan of a particular fighter who was great at going to his opponents body, feel free to list off the KO's he scored that you can remember off the top of your head.

I believe 3 or 4 of Jorge Arce's last KO wins came from bodyshots. Against Tomas Rojas, Medgoen Singsurat and Isidro Garcia.

According to Battling Nelson's autobiography, a large number of his kayos were with body shots.

Speaking of Olivares, the sole stoppage in the ultra durable Ramirez's career was from a Olivares bodyshot.

The equally tough Cesar Soto's one of two stoppage losses was the result of a Tapia bodyshot as well.

His stoppage over the unbeaten Dorin was a single shot to the body that KO'd him. Beautiful shot.

yeha great set up aswell. jab, cross, jab, left hook to the body. even though gatti is seen as defenceless slugger he could really mix his shots well.

i think manny augustus has half of his ko's by way of left hook to the body.

enzo maccaerinelli said he has knocked down half his opponants wiht body shots...but i dont know if that means stoppages or not.
his destruction of garry delaney:dead:dead:dead 6 knockdowns all body shots

I imagine the most likely time period would have been the days when boxing was either ungloved or while the gloves were still minimal in the protection they offered for the hand. It's much safer to try and land a liver shot than to risk damaging a knuckle on your opponent's chin. Unfortunately, the video evidence of such periods ranges from minimal-to-zero, so while Bob Fitzsimmons or John L. Sullivan might have had the most body-punch KOs, we'll probably never know.

Anyway, in the modern era Hatton has had a lot of body punch KOs, against of course varying quality. The Castillo fight was a surprise because it was a long time since Hatton had won a fight with a body punch, and he'd never done it at that level.

Remember hearing a commentataor say during a McClellan fight that Steward said that 17 of his first 21 KO's came by left hook to the body. Something like that.

    It was definately 12+
