Its just a wee personal opinion of mine my good man, Im sure if Scotty hadnt went off the rails he could have cleaned up a **** hot featherweight division at the time, & claimed the crown as Scotlands greatest ever fighter.
If anyone disagrees Im not going to argue though, cos Scotty went off the rails before he realised his true potential in my eyes.

Now Alex Arthur hs the chance to become Scotlands greatest ever fighter, cos if he beats Guzman who is a p4p fighter in many peoples eyes, hes then one superfight away from even eclipsing the great Ken Buchanan.
    Thats whats on the line.

Sorry for turning it into a scottish boxing debate, but thats what happens when you ask me a question:D However, its a good thread, & I dont wish to hijack it. So I shall bow out, now that I have said my piece.

Sorry Dunky mate, but I don't think even if things had gone Harrisions way he'd have excelled Lynch, Watt (very underated IMHO) and Ken Buchanan.

AAA needs to beat Guzman and a couple of very good wins to jump ahead of Watt and (esp) Buchanan, so who knows?

You know I'm behind AAA for the Guzman fight mate!!!

For me Naseem, the Kelley fight was at the time one of the best fights I had seen for excitement and the atmosphere was electric.

Then:- Benn, Collins and Carl Thompson (met him in Tesco's)

Now:- Hatton and Calzaghe (but as stated before he's had his fair share of crap fights).

As I say Smith, I aint gonna argue. harrison ****ed it all up, but he had the chances to fight Marquez & Guzman, & if they had come off & scotty won? I would say that he would have been up there with them, & a pacquiao away from being the greatest scottish fighter of all time. Wishful thinking maybe, but Harrison had the chance.

Now Arthur has the chance. If Alex beats Guzman & then wins another superfight? I would say he would go down as the greatest ever scottish fighter.

Heres one to throw into the ring for us guys of a "certain age"...Rocky Kelly. He was in some real wars, inc the tragic one with Steve Watt.

No worries Gaz my good man. Its just my personal opinion, if Scotty hadnt went off the rails Im sure he could have beaten Guzman & Marquez, two fights that were made for him.

As I said in my last post to Smth though, Arthur is now in Scottys shoes & has the chance to surpass them all.

I would love Arthur to do it, just to get it right up Buchanan & Watt. Those two never gave Harrison or Arthur proper credit, cos they want to protect their place in scottish boxing folklore. A couple of very bitter old men.

I know Buchanan is a funny old sod (to say the least!), is Watt the same in that regard?

Lets just say, back in the day when Scotty was world champ, they had a bit of a feud going on with Jim Watt, & his unkind analysis of Scotty every time he fought.

It actually made the back page of the News of the world, when Peter Harrison spoke out about Watts unfair criticism of Scotty. & just to make things more tasty, Jim Watt had actualy beaten Peter Harrison back in the early days of their careers.

Yup, welcome to the world of scottish boxing, where petty rivalries amongst ourselves are the order of the day....
