No doubt the consensus will be a certain Walker Smith Jr.

I would disagree in that case. He did of course have very good fundamentals, but there have been many boxers since then with a more disciplined guard. This is also why I probably wouldn't name Sal Sanchez here either.

Harold Johnson and Ricardo Lopez are two that immediatly comes to mind. I'd name Holyfield as well. D'Amato boxers Patterson and Tyson also had very sound fundamentals. Marquez, certainly. PBF of course. McCallum, Arguello, Duran, Toney... there are quite a few.

Of lesser fighters, I think Watson is one that stands out.

Absolutely not. From the small amount footage we have of him, it's clear he's more of a Herol Graham than a Kalambay.

    Oh, yeah - forgot Kalambay.

How about a prime Winky? Never off balance, never open, ended his combos in proper position, and never flustered. His wins over Mosley are a great example of solid fundamentals overpowering raw talent and slick black boxerness.

Curry is a very good one. Forgot about him. Haven't watched Jofre and Ortiz, but maybe I should.

Prime Hopkins had many good technical qualities, but he never developed a really good lead right. That and his tendency to go too low with his head when coming in on an opponent keep him from this company IMO.
