Hagler was very well rounded and fundamentally flawless; combined with a strong punch, impossible jaw and dedication to training, you had one of the best fighters ever.

However, he wasn't necessarily a smart fighter or particularly cagey. About average probably. Hagler sometimes changed his style depending on his opponent, granted, but that was more of a pre-fight adaption rather than a mid-battle occurrence. I get the impression that tactical changes and style inversions came more naturally to the real elite of ingenuity - like Ray Robinson.

Jones is poetry in motion, reminds me of Ali in terms of using speed as his primary weapon. (in Ali's younger days). for complete boxing skills I think I'm going with SRL or SRR and for a complete fighter..which to me is part boxing and part getting in the trenches and mixing it up, I'm going with Duran.

Watching the Jones video got me to think the big difference between him and Duran was Jones had unlimited natural ability and speed, but when he aged, it became clear he didn't have the attributes Duran had against Barkley for example. The defense, the chin the ability to win a war up close. They were both absolutely surperb fighters, but very different abilities. Jones was an athlete who boxed, and Duran was a fighter who boxed.

Can't argue with Duran. The Palomino fight is indescribably perfect.

Sugar Ray Leonard. I would never suggest Duran. He did not prove his skill with the best fighters he fought. Even when he fought Ray it was not skill it was Ray fighting his fight. As a matter of fact skill is what beat Duran everytime.

Based on a comprehensive set of film? Louis or Charles.

Based on reputation, record, reports? I'm gonna go with Benny Leonard as well.
