Second knockdown in Frazier-Ellis I was truly awesome. How Ellis managed to rise from that hook when it looked like it would decapitate him i'll never understand.

How was the ref in that fight?

Completely corrupt, a 4 year old can count to 10.

I was just commenting on another thread about the bomb Valdez landed on Monzon in their second fight to knock him down. I can't think of too many Middleweights (Hagler would be one) who recover from that punch. Monzon got up from that on went back to his cyborg-like domination to win the fight.

The first one I thoguht of was Holmes-Shavers, a bomb like that from Shavers should have knocked just about anyone out, but Larry recovered and was able to dodge a lot of wild swings from Shavers afterwards and win the fight.

Chris Byrd got knocked down by a huge uppercut from Ike Ibeabuchi and jumped back up like it was nothing. It was the sort of thing that makes you go :yikes for real. (And maybe add a "What the ****?")

And as much as some classic posters groan whenever Ali's name gets brought up, him getting right up from that famous left hook of Joe's in the 15th round of their first fight, (and despite all the punishment he took in the other 14 rounds) is part of whyhis legacy wasn't affected by that loss.

Good call, I'd half forgotten about that one. Frazier really teed off on Ellis in that, Ellis just couldn't keep him off.

For something different, I'll nominate Grant/Guinn.

Guinn lands several shots, has Grant reeling on the ropes, and absolutely levels him with a left hook.

Grant does a total face-plant, Creed-Drago style, but staggers up by 8 only for the ref to (rightly) call it off.

Ruddock was the master of utterly wiping out with his knockdowns, and getting back up...usually laughing as he did so.

Even though he only went down to one knee, Lyle looked dead to the world after getting clocked by Shavers.

Not a knockdown but worth a mention. The shot Jumbo Cummings landed on Frank Bruno. Bruno looked like someone out of a Looney Tunes cartoon who has just had the anvil dropped on his head. came back to win it though.

Dempsey Willard needs a mention. All 7 of em were brutal imo. Though he tec didnt rise from the last knockdown.

Marciano LarSarza II, when Rocky send Roland though the ropes.

Gans Nelson I, Gans put Nelson down hard in the later part of the fight.
Walker vs Milligan, How he got up that many times, I never know.
The same with Walker vs Schemling of couse.
