I was a famous heavyweight boxer who ranked right up there with MGM's Leo the Lion as a movie icon. Who am I?

You British guys would know this. That is right.

For those who don't know what we are talking about, there was a famous producer of British films J Arthur Rank, who ran what was known as the Rank Organization, a number of film studios, I believe. If a movie was produced by the Rank Organization, a man appeared on a platform and ran a big gong as the intro logo, the same as the lion came on to roar before an MGM movie. The "gongman" was Bombadier Billy Wells.

Instead of using the sledgehammer on the gong, Bikly Wells should have used the sledgehammer on Georges Carpentier, who kayoed Wells twice....

Actually, he couldn't take body shots.
The Term a " J Arthur" ,has a different meaning in cockney rhyming slang ,as Brits will know!

Would like to see that, is it on youtube, being from America, we hardly see anything on Wells outside of his fights.

Don't think it's Billy Wells in that video. He was in the black and white version but they had to shoot a new one when colour film came in.
