Mundine is no where near washed up, he fought well againt Sam who came into this fight alot better prepared than the 2nd fight, stuck to a plan and followed everything his corner said in between rounds. Sam is just a plain ugly fighter to oppose in the ring and Mundine was breaking him down towards the end of the fight. Sam would have given anyone fits the other night.

Hey guys, new to the forum. Im a Choc fan (not quite a nuthugger), but i was frustrated with his performance. I felt his punching was accurate and very fast but found his workrate to be frustratingly low. Soliman appeared to frustrate him throughout the fight and i just didn't feel mundine was on top of his game. I don't think any of his problems were physical or prep related, i just think they were mental. When he threw them, they hit, so it was frustrating that he DIDNT throw them. Sometimes i felt like if he let his hands go and strung together 4 or 5 punch combos (it didnt appear as though sam could hurt him so it wasnt a big risk) he could have put sam on the deck. He hit him at will, unfortunately he lacked the will to hit him. There were so many times when sam would unload 5 or 6 second rate slaps and skimming punches and Choc wouldn't counter punch, when he could have easily tagged him (and he showed that he could when he wanted to). I think crisp might describe his punching accuracy and speed, but mentally he was sub par i thought. I suppose i just found it frustrating because i felt like he showed great potential when he threw A punch (singular, he rarely opened up with any fluid combos) yet he simply did not choose to pressure sam. I can't wait to see choc fight a decent fighter but he is going to have to lift his work rate in my opinion.
I feel both Sam and Mundine are on the slide. Although the fight was never going to be pretty, no-one looks good against Sam with his style. Mundine knew Sam couldn't hurt him and kept on him but couldn't land enough clean shots to finish him.
Mundine won easy, it was boring fight, Sam was alot smarter this time, by moving more and not comming at Mundine.I think Sam could still give the top 3 Aussie 160 a real go, Pittman,Geale and Taylor
Good point , Sam should be used as a trial horse by these lads , Sherro would be wise to get in on the act also if he could persuade Sam to fight him @ S/middle . Everyone wins , Sam wouldn't take a hiding off any of them imo , the youngsters get solid experence , Sam earns good money and the boxing world gets see quality aussie boxing and its young prospects .
