Seems a nice guy. Hope he stays in retirement but I doubt it. After a few months he will be watching the young guns thinking i can beat those guys.
What's sad for rendall is the current quality in the division even at domestic level. Has it been a couple of years back he could have gone back to British level and made a few extra quid comfortably beating recent champs such as booth,Pickering etc but with the quality coming through in the sbw division such as Galahad, frampton and dickens doing this would be a gamble If he doesn't want to tarnish his record
I saw Munroe boxing in Dublin against Fabriza. He came in unbelieveable condition. Always thought of him as an honest lad and have a lot of time for him. Smart move I guess he leaves the sport with his health in check.
Good luck Rendall in your new career path ... good pressure fighter ! Thanks for the memories and a fair few quid won v Martinez
He had a very decent fighter at his best, and I enjoyed watching him. He's got out at the right time, and I hope he doesn't return. Thank you for your efforts, Rendall.
I think Rendall actually did pretty well against Nishioka and gave him a good fight all things considered: fighting on away soil with little experience at that level and a style ill-suited to tackling Nishioka anyway, especially with his lack of power. Wasn't just a punchbag despite losing cleanly and didn't disgrace himself at all. I thought he might push on to better things in lieu of the experience, but sadly it wasn't to be. A notable career nonetheless. Top, honest character and a refreshing change too. Hope he's happy back on his round.
always a fighter i kept a bit of an eye on. would have liked to have seen him fight dunne back in the day. i hope he made a few quid. is he still on the bins? or back on them now?
Best of luck to Rendall, he's a genuinely top bloke. Is he going back to the bins then? I'm pretty sure he quit towards the end of his career, possibly just before the first Quigg fight. He would have won a world title if he went for a lesser challenge than Nishioka. Doesn't get any harder at 122 than fighting him in Japan really, does it?! Always been a big fan of Munroe, and actually met him by chance a couple of years ago and he was a thoroughly nice bloke. You could tell from his interviews that he really was just a normal lad who happens to be pretty good at boxing. He didn't feel the need to point it out in every interview either, unlike Hatton. He had a very good career though. Fought on SKY every time out for a number of years and made countless European title defences against differing levels of opposition. He was a massive Super-Bantamweight aswell, i'm really not sure how he made 122 for all those years. He always tended to start slowly though, he really did do nothing for the first 4 rounds in most fights and that frustrated me. I'm surprised he did so well as a pressure fighter aswell because he did lack pop for someone so big at the weight. Good luck Rendall, and thanks for a great career.
