you really think so, i dont think all that highly of gavin rees and i think murray who i have a bit more confidence in will slaughter him the same way kotelnik did, murray can be outboxed but it will take more then some1 on rees level to do so,
I don't see why Rees can't beat either of them. I mean..... the best win either of them have is Mitchell over Johanneson - Murray has beaten a shitload of shot/not very good fighters and not looked a potential superstar in doing so. If it wasn't for the ''Khan is ducking........ '' brigage turning their attention to Murray he'd be anonymous.
I'd love to see this fight. Don't know if Gav can bring the intensity though. He doesn't fight often enough to build momentum. Apart from Prizefighter he's done nothing in 18 months since Kotelnik. Murray TKO10.
Murray would be too much for him, his style is prefect for Murray to look a million dollers. Unless there is a little patday here this fight won't happen.
Rees could feasibly outwork Murray IMO, it's about as 50-50 fight as you can get IMO, Murray having an edge in power (still an accumulative puncher himself) meaning I'd favour him to win a super close decision, 115-113, 114-114, 119-109, something like that.
Rees is decent enough. Not true World class but he always gives it a go, and appears to have a sturdy chin. Kotelnik beat him down like ****, the fact Rees hung in there well enough doesn't look so bad as everyone most probably rates Kotelnik in the top 5 of the division (I'd have him at no.3 myself, despite Khans win over him. Maidana,Alexander>>>Paulie, Kotelnik IMO) Have to say I've reflected on the above part of y post for a while. I'm mega monged at the mo' and have realised there is a major fallacy with my above 'hypothesis'. If I give Kotelnik big credit for his performance against Alexander (I rank fighters but how good they actually are, regardless of bad judging), otherwise Sweet Pea would lose kudos for 'drawing' with Chavez) but where would I rate Devon? Does Devon still have a claim to being no.2@140? Is it fair to rank Kotelnik over Khan? What is the current 140 top 5, removing The Ring Champion and Ricky from any possible selection? Whats happened to John Watson? I thought that Gethin fight on Setanta ages ago was an eliminator for this title. I guess Watson-Rees would be made if Murray vacates?
A fair top few for me.... 1. Bradley 2. Khan 3. Kotelnik/Alexander I'd have to give Khan credit for the shutout win over Kotelnik - which I didn't at the time, and also Kotelnik credit for beating Maidana and being ripped off (apparently) against Alexander. Ortiz still hasn't served his pennance for quitting against Maidana, who'd be tooled by any of the listed names.
Gavin destroyed Sam Amoako in 3 on the McLoskey Lauri bill in June. The same Amoako who gave Lee Mcallister fits. Rees is on a different level to these two, both are entertaining domestic level fighters and overhyped to fook.
Rees was a small lightweight fighting world class L Welters and still held his own. The Kotelnik loss looks fine now and Rees was well in it for 6/7 rounds. Kotelnik would school Murray very easily.
Come on fighter A looking better against fighter B etc etc is a load of bollocks the theory just doesn't work.
