I sparred in boxing for the first time last night and i loved it.The person who i was sparring is in his 20's and has done alot of amateur boxing in the past and i'm 17.
The first 2 rounds i wasn't really thinking i was just trying to hit him but in th last 2 rounds i really started to pick my shots more, i did take alot good shots to the face but and got hit with one really hard shot right on my nose but i just carried on boxing.
I did also get some good shots in and he was getting really annoyed about it. My tranier said i done really well for my first time and that i can take a punch, which i was worried about at first thinking i was going to be put on my arse!!

My nose is really sore but i thought it was brilliant.
Has anyone got any advise for me? I know the best advise is to keep my hands. But at least i kinda know what i can inprove now becuase going on the bag is good but that doen't hit back doe's it.

Any advise would be really appreciated.

figure out your opponenet within the first 60 seconds by watching his movement his posture, how he moves his hands , jus remember evreything you can so that you can use it against them

just be relaxed in the ring, and always look at your oponement, looks like you had a better first sparring session then me the first time

Thanks, my trainer said to relax my jab more which i realised,i was not as relax as i should of been.
My sparring parter had a very crisp jab he didn't really open up much i think hes more vunreble to an overhand right which i got him with a few times. Hes hooks had no power in the at all.
I did also keep moving when i new he was trying to control and get me to do what he wanted i made it harder for him my moving around him which i thought worked.

wait for pudding to come on here and bad mouth your coach for putting you in sparring without teaching you how to dodge a shot.
