I don't know why people are so surprised by Cotto beating Foreman.

It wasn't all that hard to figure out. Yes Foreman has skills, but he is (I guess was now) completely untested, never fought any decent competition, had a low ko percentage.

Yes the guy can move. Yes the guy has heart. Yes he has quick hands.

But all the physical skills don't mean crap when you are not prepared for the high level of competition.

He (foreman) could have had a greater chance if he waited for a big fight by slowly moving up in competition.

I don't mean to **** on him but he simply was not ready.

After the Marg fight Cotto took an easy fight in Jennings, and now after the Pac fight as well. I'm not knocking him for this, as he needs to get his head back in the game.

What did surprise me though was how long Foreman lasted, and he actually put up a decent fight early in the fight. I don't know if this is a matter of Cotto's leaky defense or his boxing skills.

Simply put, this fight does not really tell us much about the state Cotto is in.

I did like his new found coordination though, and I thought Steward is a fantastic upgrade from his previous corner.

I'm afraid though that that's the last we'll hear of Yuri though, as he was pretty much unkown before Cotto as was Salita before Khan and after.

As a big Cotto fan, I'm afraid he might be done at the top elite level. But I hope he proves me wrong. Don't get me wrong he can still have fantastic fights, but this fight gives all the warnings signs that he won't be able to hold his own in the 154 weight.

All the other 154 fighters hold significant advantages over him, such as Paul Williams (height, reach, workrate), Sergio Martinez (Slickness, decent power, comparable boxing skills).

The fight that makes the most sense for Cotto at the moment is a Margarito rematch.

Like it or not, the money is there. Both are now campaining at 154, and there is so much controversy from the first fight. This fight is a guaranteed sell-out.

At the moment, I believe Pac and Floyd beat him with ease.

    Discuss?

Oo and I hope no one sees me as a Cotto hater or anything, as I always root for him and he's my second favorite active fighter.

Yeah I know, and I'm not putting down Cotto as he is one of my favorite fighters. I'm just saying that people are going to hype this up and then bring him down again when (if) he loses to another elite fighter.

All I'm saying is that this was a tune-up fight, and I really hope that Cotto does not continue his campaign at 154 unless to rematch Marg, just to take it slow and not rush into something. Cotto is great for boxing, he is a true champion. He always goes for a difficult opponent. He has a tremendous resume as you have pointed out. But I'm just trying to get people to see the Foreman was not ready for this fight experience wise, and that this fight doesn't tell us much about what Cotto has left.

For the record, I truly hope Cotto goes on to win every fight from now, he deserves it. But that may not be the case. Time will tell.
