Well, okay, but from memory he did not defend the unified title, the WBO was the only belt he held for any length of time and he vacated that - either to fight Barrera or to duck a skilled contender, depending on whom you talk to. The other belts he only held for a few weeks/months. I am not saying he was rubbish, or that he did not have some great wins, not at all, I am a big fan, but he could have been a champion for the ages, taking on allcomers, and for me he did not do that. Thank you for keeping me honest, though!
thats because each time he won a new title the previous one got stripped because the orgs did not support unification, they wanted their belt to be the only one he held.
he did take on all comers, he beat everyone in his division, the barreras and morales' were fighting a division or 2 below when he was dominating, only when he was about to retire did they step up to the weight class.

Hamed was a very good fighter, never destined for greatness because he didn't have the qualities required. Did he not train for Kelley or Sanchez either? Two fighters who made him look incredibly ordinary, two fighters who would have been outclassed, destroyed, dominated, swept aside by the likes of MAB and Erik.
yes he was on his last legs, he was mentally not a fighter, he looked **** against augie sanchez whom he shouldn't have had any problems with. if he had more to give why would he retire after the mab fight? he could have easily fought a few top 15 fighters, sold out a few stadiums in the uk and make 10+ millions.

He looked just as bad in 1997 against Kevin Kelley? Which is it? Did Hamed fall in and out of prime at his own convenience? Do you honestly not see a correlation? Hamed started looking worse not because he was shot to pieces, but because he was fighting better opposition. The guy can get motivated for Bungu but not Marco Antonio Barrera? I don't buy it. He got clowned on account of his opponent being a superior fighter than him. Everything else doesn't make sense. Confidence was shot. He tasted defeat for the first time and realised he didn't want to get shown up in front of thousands of people again. That wasn't very fun for him, why would it be?
