Mostly London, but a fair bit in midlands and Bristol

Few regular abroad bookings in US, Canada and Spain too

Oh and Belgium which was a random one that became a yearly visit

Was a great time but wasn't enough to finance a real family life so just dabble these days when time permits

It’s mad some of the places you end up isn’t it. At least you could just play your tunes...I got off the plane in Switzerland and the promoter who picked me and the other 2 acts up heard me talk and said “oh god...you’re going to have to completely change the way you speak or they won’t understand you”. Died on my backside that first night.

    Haha you'd be surprised
I've had many a request to change what i play once at the venue

    Very rarely listened though

I was on a mission back then to promote the sound i believed in so my mantra was "they booked me because i play this stuff so i shall continue to"

That sounds like a tough one to overcome on your part though
How do you just change the way you talk???

That was the one and only time I tried. I’m quite broad so I tried to speak proper...it just didn’t flow right at all, I was crap. 2nd night I just talked how I normally do and had a blast. Never adjusted the way I speak for anyone after that.

    Lesson learnt
They say things happen for a reason
It helped you built your act moving forward

That's the problem with blowing these lads up on a diet of knockovers. They get the impression they're different class then don't understand how on Earth they can get badly beaten.
Tougher early fights would have shown Gorman his limitations.

Despite all his problems and his lack of discipline, I like Gorman. I think he can reach Euro level and earn a few good paydays. I hope he does as he seems like a decent kind of bloke and I like his skillset when he is not overweight. He should NEVER try to be a slugger.

Back to normal i.e less of a fat slob? The guy never comes in looking anything remotely like a professional athlete.

Mate, the term "Athlete" is something that has been coined by promoters to sell someone.
They are not athletes They are fighters and there's a very big difference.
In the HW division there is no weight stipulation as I'm sure you know and sometimes extra weight, whether that been muscle or fat is sometimes traded for wind. For example, AJ isn't at the same weight he fought at as an amateur, he's traded wind for muscle and power.
Yes I agree but the promotional format for developing fighters has changed, they keep telling them that they are great fighters instead of making them great fighters lol and this is the consequence of that.

In the build-up to that fight the other night his team (whoever they are, that didn't seem clear) were apparently trying to say that he was purposely coming in bigger to get more power as stands and trades and that we'd see a faster Gorman than ever. The commentators were openly mocking that idea, which had probably been put out to try and lessen the criticism of their man's lack of conditioning.

Like you I like him and sympathise with the hints of anguish in his time post loss and during lockdown. He's an engaging character when on form and he does have skills that are unusual at that weight class.

I hope he can get into proper fighting shape, get the right advice / level of guidance and try and build a record and a following.

Gorman was always a fat ****.
And it's no exaggeration to say he looks twice his listed age.

He's among the top 10 UK heavyweights but that doesn't mean he's not a bum.

I would place him as 8th best HW in the UK and he isnt a bum.

Alot of boxers would love to be the 8th best in their weight division in the UK right now.

He beats the likes Allen, Price and Kash Ali with ease.

As someone else has said, he isn't a slugger. He's a boxer, maybe slightly into the boxer-puncher bracket.

He does have some lovely skills. If he can get himself into decent shape and box and move, he could be a decent fighter imo.
