Nathan Gorman

Not going to lie i never heard much about him until a couple of weeks ago when a friend was talking about him.

He definitely looks promosing from the fights i seen..and he has been calling out Dubois so would love that fight to happen sooner rather then later...im backing my brother Dubois though!!!!

 

Kid has also sparred hundreds of rounds with Dubois and thinks he'd beat him.

 

Is this fight still going ahead after the shooting at Pete Taylor’s gym? I was under the impression that Taylor trains Turner so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a pull out here.

 

I don’t think Gorman has elite level power at HW or elite skills. I think he can go onto the level of European if he applies himself and maximises his potential.

Dubois at this point cannot be judged because he has not stepped past the lowest levels at HW. It does appear at this stage that he could have elite power. At HW, power is a great equaliser. However if he is packing glass, as some suspect, then he will end up like a David Price character.

I would make Dubois a slight favourite if they met in the next fight.

 

He looks pretty good. Fast hands and throws his combinations well. Assuming the Turner fight goes ahead (which I hope it does) I expect him to come through comfortably enough.

Not sure he'll make it to world level but in this division and at that age, I wouldn't entirely rule it out

 

I like him, humble guy too. Oldest looking 21 year old I’ve ever seen though, bet he hasn’t been ID’d since he was about 14!

I think he could go on to be a solid euro level fighter, nothing more IMO. It didn't look good when he ducked the Nick Webb fight though, he probably would have won that fight anyway but his team didn't want to take the risk.

 

Yes Nathan certainly comes from fighting stock and would of grown up with the fight game been a big part of his heritage.
Id pick him to beat dubois atm and whilst Nathan doesnt seem to have massive power he is accurate and has good timing and placement of shots and this counts for a lot.
What Nathan needs now, is a trainer who can develop his power.

 

His only fight against an opponent of note, Akinlade, was a snoozefest (partly down to Aki) and his conditioning did not look great. I don't see him beating Dubios now or in the future.

Having said that, the lads only 21 and got bags of time to develop power and improve conditioning. Levels wise Turner is a great fight.

 

I doubt Turner will be an easy task. Turner looked great in his last two fights vs Gjergjaj and Hrgovic and he has an awkward style of boxing which can trouble Gorman a lot i think. Gormans chin also relatively untested so far.

 

Gorman strikes me as a traveller Andy Ruiz - nice fast hands and a natural ease in the ring, but flabby and with insufficient power to trouble the elite.

 

Isn't he trained by Ricky Hatton?
