really? I would have said Marquez, given his addiction to being floored / stunned with punchces he didnt see coming, naz speciality I agree with the general sentiment though - Hamed wasnt as good as is made out, but he was a tremendous puncher and a character, something that can take you a long way
I think Morales would have ruined Hamed, absolutely murdered him. I was going to say that after Morales he'd never fight again but he only fought once after Barrera..... Marquez would dominate him from the outside too, Hamed might hear the final bell but he'd be a mess afterwards. I'm not for one minute saying Barrera is an easy matchup for him, it quite clearly wasn't.....
I think Morales would have been a more winnable fight for naz than barrera but i still reckon he would have lost. Prime Marquez would have beat Naz as bad if not worse than Barrera imo

I dont want to come across like a Barrera nuthugger, but for my money, Hamed would of had a much better shot at Morales, as Morales didn't have as many wrinkles to his game as MAB, he was also prone to getting drawn into a fight, nor has he ever been hard to hit. I think Hamed would of had a great shot at hurting Morales.
Oh yeah, Morales was easier to find granted. I just see Hamed finishing a distant second in a tear up with Erik, who was a bad, bad dude. Probably flat on his back in the late rounds.
It would be a great match up.... I really have no idea. Hamed gets overrated at times and McGuigan doesnt get the credit he deserves at times also...Its a lot closer than people might think...
Remember Naz gave an interview around 97 or 98 (could have been a press conference) and he said; "If Barry McGuigan had of been around in my day or I'd have been around in his - I'd have knocked that boy out" It's up on youtube but I can't post it coz I'm in work. Anyway, Barry laughed it off but I wonder what he really would have thought? I doubt you'd ever get the truth out of him. Thing is with McGuigan - he's too much of a nice guy to get involved it trash talk like that. I remember he done a joint interview with Bernard Dunne a few years ago - there was a lot of similarities in their careers - they were both Irish, both won European titles and both won WBA titles against Panamians, one was super bantam, one feather and they were around the same age and had almost the exact same experience - Anyway, with so many similarties it was natural the question would get asked on who would have beaten who - Barry said that Bernard would have won. To be honest I reckon Barry would have done Bernard in the late rounds but Barry wasn't going to take Bernard's moment in the sun away from him.
McGuigan would decimate Bernard Dunne in the first round!!! They're so far apart it's unreal, McGuigan beat an ATG featherweight and (arguably) the 2nd greatest Panamanian fighter ever!!!
If Bernard had a world class chin he would have been a fairly close matchup , but he never had one. Barry is just too agressive, strong, and powerful for Bernard to last with. I think it would be Dunne similar to the Dunne-Poonsawat fight, and would be over within 3-6 rounds, terrible matchup for Dunne. I dont think it would be over quite as quickly as you think though
Too difficult for me to contemplate, he may well have been able to implement a far more effective style. Dunne was no puncher either IMO, and if he tried to impose an accumulative beating on Barry he'd get smashed as well. In terms of boxing ability, well, as I say, the Pedroza win is being overlooked here. One of the greatest Featherweights of all time. McGuigan holds a solid win over Bernard Taylor as well, who had pushed Pedroza to a 15 round draw and had far better mobility than Dunne, the only blemish on a then undefeated record.
