Nazim Richardson is training Shane Mosley for the Margarito fight and he's the reason why I think mosley is gonna win by UD. Nazim is a very good trainer and can analyse fighters styles and exploit there weaknesses. Therefore I think he's gona show mosley the tools he needs to fight a perfect game plan.

I'm not a margarito hater but I feel he only comes in with a "plan A". plan A = use face to wear down opponents offense. but what happens when that doesnt work. Margo has never learned how to use a plan B during the fight, he never had to adapt his style for any difficulties.

The way I see it is Margarito is fighting a fighter that:

    1) Has an excellent chin,
    2) Is a natural hard hitting boxer
    3) Can fight on the back foot for the whole fight
    4) Is the faster boxer
    5) Is taught a gameplan be an expert (nazim richardson)

However I also believe that mosley can be stupid and get into a slugging or brawling match and get badly hurt. This is where Nazims advise and game plans help him

I rate Richards as a trainer. When I see his interviews he talks a lot of sense a lot of the time. He smacks of being a "yes man" when he's in Hopkins' corner, but I suppose that happens when you are talking to a man that knows everything and only needs guidance rather than advice.

I think he'd be a good trainer for most other guys and for Shane. His job is to get the best out of Shane and hope thats enough. You can only work with what you got.

    Ummm, its Nazim Richardson.

But other than that, I agree. He is a wonderful strategic planner, from a training standpoint. Its the reason Hopkins trusts him so much...

Remember the back and forth between him and Hopkins during the 24/7 for the Pavlik fight?

Hopkins - "That's one hell of a right hand. What are we gonna do about that Nazim?"

Hopkins then looks over at him with this smile, like he knew what answer was coming next...

Richardson - "Put it in the same drawer we put Trinidad's left."

Hopkins just smiles and looks back at the tv.

I do think that he is gonna have a plan to counteract something in Margo's arsenal. And I think because of this (and a few other things), the fight is going to be ALOT closer than most think. Im favoring Margo tho, slightly...but wouldnt be surprised to see Shane pull off a close decision.

  4. it's going to be a very close fight i lean towards Margo, but i'll put it too you this way i will NOT be laying any $$$$ on the line for this one..:-(
    Simply to close to call..

Exactly. I'm not so sold on this as many people, there seems to be a broad assumption Shane is so washed up and Margarito is this beast after his win.

How can you rule out Shane's speed (yes he still has some handspeed) outpointing Margarito early? Just like Cotto did. And Shane has ALWAYS had durability and stamina. I don't expect him to simply crumble. The only thing that worried me about him is he really struggled for his timing when he tried to counterpunch Mayorga. Margarito should present a less awkward target.

On the other hand Shane is showing signs of age, he's not as sharp anymore, big chance Margarito can outwork and outpoint him.

    This is 50/50.

I really, really like Nazim, he knows his stuff very well and people give him little credit...

However there's little to do here since you can throw your gameplan out of the window vs. Margarito. Cotto had a game plan, won 4 rounds based on it and that was pretty much it, Tony took over and beat the **** out of him. Mosley, coming from a mediocre performance vs. Mayorga (definitely showed his age, not a good sign), I just don't see he can stop the huge physical force, pressure and 1000+ hard punches of Margarito. It's not Hopkins-Pavlik, it's not like moving to his left. Margarito has underrated skills and defense and there's no magical hidden way. There's only one way, the hard way, and I don't see Shane outboxing Tony for 12 very intensive 3-minute rounds (which would still mean close ones). At this point, I don't even see Shane going to the cards, quitting on stool in the second half (better than big stoppage) in the later rounds is the most like outcome I'm afraid.

Margarito is too much at this point and Nazim can do nothing about it.

To me, Shane has a good chance in this fight. However, where I see him having problems is that Shane, IMO, has noticably started to get winded at the end of fights. I am just not sure his body can take much more of the high-intensity training he must do.

Well i do agree Nazim is a good analyst and good at giving advice in the corner, but its whether Mosley can actually listen and put it into effect.

I watched the Mayorga fight and he was awful, i had him losing in that fight till he got the last second KO. He didnt box fluidly or use combinations, i think only in the 6th round or something. He is getting on a bit too and maybe getting to the point where he just cant physically do what he did b4???
