Don't disagree that he's top 10 but so's someone like Ray Beltran. Doesn't mean it's a going to be a good fight. Brian Magee was top 10 against Kessler. Means **** all when some divisions have a shallow talent pool.

If Broner took on Hank Lundy or Ray Beltran that'd get a pretty big 'meh' on this board. Rees is only a place or two above or below these guys at lightweight. Rees/Broner is the same as Frank making Lockett/Pavlik or Jennings/Cotto a few years ago. It is a win-win situation for Rees and hopefully a good payday. He's expected to lose but a solid performance in defeat ups his profile stateside and he'll likely get another decent fight off the back of it.

And Burns getting stick for not fighting Broner - let's give it another 6 months or so. Haye got slaughtered for not fighting Wlad all through 2009 and '10. Fight happened in 2011. I don't think Broner stays at lightweight for more than another year so hopefully the Burns fight happens by then.

The only similiarity between Rees and Lockett is the fact tha tthey are Welsh and they attend the same Gym every day, come on ishy that's just not a fair comparison...Michael Jennings...well that's an insult to Gavin Rees

there is a difference between losing to Yuri Tsarenka and losing your world title to Andriy Kotelnik, outside your best weightclass

People who were posting all these Ifilm video interviews with Hearn and W-arren. Waxing lyrical about how great they are. You might as well go and have a big ****, pick it up out the loo, and interview it.

I bet Kugan couldn't wait to finish, with all the BS they come out with. The rooms must have stunk.

Trust no one. Everyone for themselves. Its a dog eat dog world. A rat race. A zombie outbreak.

Boxing aint like it used to be. Boxers aint running this sport anymore, its wannabee promoters who think they are the best thing going.

People like this arent just destroying Boxing, but sport as a whole.

    Parasites.

Rees is a perfectly acceptable fight for any world champion at 135. He deserves the chance.

Bit of an exaggeration maybe but Rees has been to war with Matthews and John Watson. Not exactly world class form. I like watching Gavin Rees fight but he's not exactly beaten some fringe contender at lightweight that'd make you think 'yep, he's due a shot now'. He's just plugged away at British level for a number of years.

Rees is a good few levels above what Jennings and Lockett were. Those two were never really that close to world level and pretty much got handed a world title shot by Frank. Rees has done his time won and defended the European title, he deserves the chance to move onto the world scene.

If Rees wins and becomes 2-weight champ at least he would've earned it and not handed it like Burns.

Burns frustrates the hell outta me!

What does that have to do with Hearn doing a good job getting him a shot?

Nonsense anyway. Broner is still young and far from the complete article. I don't agree that he only needs 'superfights' from here on out after being DeMarco. Rees is a genuine top 10 contender and worthy of a shot. Not to mention it's only coming about after trying to get another belt-holder (Burns) who turned them down.

The difference is Rees and Barker have pedigree going into those fights.

personally i think to match rees with broner is a bad call especially when he was supposed to be fighting abril for the vacant WBA title which i think was a very winnable fight. when brook was in the same position as rees ( no 2 ranked with the IBF ) he was offered big money to fight bradley. Hearn said there was no point risking everything when they were so close to becoming manditory. So i dont see what the difference is with rees because if he gets beat ( which i think he will ) then he will lose his ranking with the WBA. If he knocked back the broner fight and fought and beat abril then go after broner then he will be bringing something to the table he would make around 5 times more than he will on feb 16.

Wasn't the goal to get the fight over here? Or win the purse and see if he'd vacate? New age promoting needed to dig a little deeper.

If Rees is just earning his bus fair and a bag of chips for the trip home then its pretty **** match making to be frank.....Its only good if Eddie has got him a decent deal

WHat was the point of being mandatory when they accepted an offer ? Was the Bradley offer that bad ?

Fighting at home would have been worth so much more!!!! ESP when Alexander is known for getting home town decisions
