This is dumb. I've never allowed a commentator to influence my view of a fight. And neither should you.
Its not a matter of being influenced, I simply get annoyed hearing them and would rather just hear the fight.
Nope, but you still have to listen to it if you want to hear the crowd/admosphere and the impact of the punches. It's there and can be very annoying, certainly where I live.
Just watch this and tell me it's not awesome. No commentary and you can really hear the weight and thud of every punch sinking in. This content is protected
100%, they add colour to the fight and you can see the fight for yourself whether they’re talking out their ass or they’re on point.
You could be taking directly to me, and if you bore me or don't know wtf you're talking about, i don't even hear you.
Muting the telecast isn't a solution really because you want to hear the thuds of the punches, the crowd, and the ambient arena sounds. It's just when the commentators are so poor and detract from the bout instead of enhance the bout, that's when you just want to turn off the commentators but watch the fight and listen to the sounds of the punches in the ring, the crowd, etc. There should be an option, frankly I can't watch Showtime because Maura Ranallo is so annoying and destracting like I can't concentrate on the action with Ranallo blabbing away, with his Mama Mias and his overbearing loudmouth personally. Ranallo doesn't let a boxing match breathe and it's a big problem. But if there was an option to turn him off I would enjoy watching the action more. It really depends on the commentary team. We as fans should have the option to mute the commentators but keep the arena sounds on. I mean on TV you have the option to use SAP to get a spanish commentary instead of english so the technology to isolate the commentators. It should be like when you press SAP on your TV only with an extra option if you press it a 2nd time it would turn both english and spanish off so you can just hear the arena sounds you know.
That’s called blanking were I come from and I do it all the time there’s a technique to it that you have to master, you have to make eye contact so they know you heard them and you are choosing to ignore them I sometimes even ask them to repeat themselves and then ignore them that’s when you become a master lmao

No commentary would be great. They talk far too much. It will never happen though as they are basically sales men now.
