Marvin Sonsona is not fighting Donaire. There is an ongoing negotiation for Sonsona to fight Jose Carita LOpez as an undercard of the JMM - Mayweather fight. Sonsona is an 18 year old who KOed a veteran former titlist Singwancha in 2 rounds.
..all im saying is that instead of donaire, lopez will likely fight 18yr old prospect sonsona instead. sonsona had a great showing in his last fight but it is not enough to gauge that he is ready for a world title shot. damn these greedy promoters, they are rushing the kid. i hope his hype wont get derailed. now what about donaire? i hope he goes for a title shot in his next fight as a super fly
Sonsona needs to get out of that fight ASAP. Lopez has too much experience, Marvin has never gone beyond 5 rounds and Lopez has never been Ko'd. As for Donaire, I read somewhere Arum is working on Cazares for the wbo superflyweight title since Lopez doesnt want fight him yet.
i definitely agree with you on that. sonsona needs another fight that will test him before a title shot, preferably against 2 or more former champs and not drag him right away against champ lopez whos a crafty veteran. btw, donaire needs a title fight to make a statement asap. make it possible arum!

lets give the boy sonsona the benefit of the doubt. when pac was younger he was put on a title shot right away and it was against sasakul who was highly rated at that time for beating arbachakov. if he wins, it would be career defining for a filipino fighter and ill definitely jump on his bandwagon right away.
Sonsona has many similiarities with Donaire but is no where near as polished. Its a great fight for Lopez to prepare for Donaire later in the year. Horrible fight for Sonsona building a career.
the thing thats really special about Donaire is that everyone likes to watch him fight from the purists to the bloodlusters to the mainstream fans. He has that style that just attracts fans like flies to ****.

yeah. the thing is, if every prospect in the philippines gets a title shot that early. only 1 in 10 will succeed. like what's happening today. pac is a very special fighter, that's why he succeeded that way of treatment. but even pac was close to losing to sasakul. shitty promoters.
