Im planning to start eating clean however the foods here in the Philippines are so rich! Plus my mom would fret if I dont eat the food that is on the table because she would say that Im wasting food. Any tips and ideas? I mean say they serve barbecue chicken. Would it be ok to eat it but I take out the skin and I try to remove the oil first before eating it? Clean the meat as much possible?

The best thing you can do is prepare your own food.

I know what you mean. My friends mother is from the Philippines and whoa! Her food is good but it is rich and lots of grease. Everything fried.

Can you talk to your mom and tell her you want to eat healthier? Do some research and try to come up with some healthy versions of the stuff she cooks now.

I'm not sure. The last time I had her cooking was at a wedding. Lots of egg roll type things and noodles.

I have no idea what Philipino food is like, but I think I can take a good guess.

My own mother has a thing with making really unhealthy Scandinavian food (high in calories and carbs) so I know where you're coming from. What I suggested to her was to make more vegetables, because its hard to prepare vegetables in an unhealthy way. Tell her to cook more portions of veggies and less of the bad stuff. For example a typical meal will look like this

Your family will eat whatever they want- 1 serving of roast, 1 baked potatoe, 1 serving of corn, a slice of bak1 salad with dressing, tall glass of milk

You would eat- 1/2 serving of roast to make your mother happy, 1/2 of a baked potatoe (no butter), 2-3 servings of corn, a big salad (no dressing), and a glass of water or maybe milk too for the calcium.

It's all about serving size. I am not an advocate of training on roast and potatoes, but one can eat just about whatever they want as long as they keep the serving size really really low and maybe do some extra roadwork or something. Just inform the cook that you're going to eat more good stuff and less bad in advance.

tell her that instead of putting this on you can put the same thing on but its better for you, an example is.

butter - I can't believe its not butter

    oil - vegtable oil

    milk - skim milk

    salt - sea salt

tell her that some dish's should be tryed to be made by being baked, which is healthier and sometimes tastier.

just eat healthy on your own i guess, stay away from trans fat cause they will kill you no joke...there man made fats that stay in your body and will never leave unless you get a surgery.

saturated fats are bad to but they come out of your body, but it takes a long time.

drink some green tea and stay healthy...

    god bless

corn has alot of carbs...though, you should tell your mom to make some healthier veggys like pea's, butternut squash, sweet potato, etc...

Its not about making weight or trying to lose weight that is bothering me. I just noticed that if I eat clean food, I feel better physically and mentally. i.e. I dont get tired easily but if I eat McDonalds, after eating, I just feel tired.

Oh I know that and she does ususally make healthy stuff. I was just using my dinner that night as an example.

Besides, when all i eat earlier in the day is a couple bananas and a salad, I think i can get away with corn:lol:
