I watched that fight again yesterday and here are some observations:

    - Hagler did not gave the first 4 rounds away as some people claim.
I gave round three to Hagler, it was close though. Leonard gave the 12th round away by running.

    - Hagler's body punching did not get enough credit.

    - Leonard did not do enough to win the fight, IMO as he did not take the belt away from the champ. Holding, running, showboating, punching after bell., he used every trick in the book, but he was not more effective.

-Leonard wanted 12 round battle and was exhausted after the 12th. 15 rounds fight would have worked in Hagler's favour.Take for instant the Duran fight.

    I gave rounds 1,2,4, 6 and 11 to Leonard.
I find it hard to believe that you gave 8 rounds to Leonard. Even then, you gotta agree that Leonard somehow stole that fight
by using his tactics, he was not the better man that night.

Leonard didn't take the belt as far as being tougher than Hagler, he took the belt because he hit Hagler more than Hagler hit him, and he won more rounds than Hagler who missed so many punches in their fight. You did not see Hagler win 6 rounds in that fight.

The 12th round you could give to either man as Leonard did run, but he backed Hagler off who had him on the ropes with a flurry to his head while Hagler went to the body and Hagler backed off. Leonard danced, and then landed a 1-2, and Hagler missed, and Sugar held up his hands dancing around the ring because he knew he won. Leonard won that fight bruh.

You could score it 8-4 giving Leonard every round, or 7-5 Leonard... giving Hagler every round, but Leonard won.

    I did gave Hagler rounds 3, 7, 8,9, 10 and 12.

I disagree with you on the 12th. Yes, Leonard throw an impressive flurry in the middle of the round but it was not enough to win the round IMO as Hagler scored more consistently at the beginning and the end of the round.

Also, Hagler did some good inside work throwing nice little punches which were overlooked by Gill Glancy who was commmentating.

I gave the fight to Hagler by two rounds.

It's a common misconception that Hagler went orthodox in opening rounds just against Leonard...a year before he did exact same thing against John Mugabi.

I felt Leonard won the opening rounds but gave Hagler round 3 (tight round). I agree i feel the body work was overlooked and that seems to be a huge problem with many analysts commentary and judges decisions. I felt Leonard lost the fight for me in middle rounds...i felt Hagler got going then and won the fight from there imo. It's a fight about what you prefer..

Hagler hit Sugar to the body a lot with a few head shots landing, and Sugar hit Hagler to the head a lot with a few body shots landing. Sugar landed more clean blows than Hagler, and that is why I thought Sugar won.

I pretty much agree with everything you said.It is a fight about what you prefer, but did Leonard took the belt away from the long term champ especially as he ran and gave away the 12th?

You thought you exposed Dinamita which was a failure, so who's next detective Richard "Dick" Socrates...

Hagler wasn't landing enough on sugar to say he won.
