Thought it would be good to have a running thread for all the Olympic boxing chat.

Boxing is scheduled to start again at 9pm and you can watch it free online on the BBC sport page obviously.

Lawrence Okolie is scheduled to box in the HW class at 11pm. IIRC he was sparked out recently so it will be interesting to see how he fares.

    Cordina's on at around 10pm.

Cordina wasn't great. Pro Middleweight Hassan N'Dam just got eliminated, totally outboxed by a Brazilian.

Okolie will come on for that, his inexperience showed a little here and there but now he has got his win I expect him to settle and box with a little more composure next time out.

Beating Savon is a big ask for a man with such little amateur experience in my opinion but you never know, Okolie keeps surprising and is a very confident young man, he will have a healthy respect but he won't fear Savon.

He got stopped just a couple months ago.. Savon will stop him again total mismatch of styles... This is the same guy that was robbed at Super Heavy v Joshua in 2012 the only chance Okile has of winning is if those same judge's are on again and they dont count stoppages ha... Yafai looked very messy he will really struggle in the next round very hard draw.. Cordona is terrible cant believe he qualified at 60kg

I don't follow the amateur scene much, nor WSoB, but Joyce and Cordina are pretty hyped by people in the sport. If you follow Hearn's Twitter, he has basically confirmed over the last few months that he is going to sign Cordina when he turns pro.

There was a cracking fight just ten minutes ago in the 60kg class between an Egyptian and Algerian. Both guys floored in the bout. I'm enjoying watching this tbh, nice to see while there isn't much going on in pro boxing atm. Didn't see the Ward fight last night but heard it was a walk in the park for SoG.

Cordona lost to Charlie Flynn at the Commonwealth games dont know where the hype is coming from.. Will be veru lucky if he gets a bronze... Joe Joyce has the best bet out of the uk males.. Ali is improving fast but think these games areva bit early.. Yafai has the 17 year old cuban sensation in the 2nd round... Okolie has Savon.. I actually think the Irish team have a couple of better shouts in Conlan and Barnes.

Are they allowed to wear body protectors?

I was thinking similar. Good win for Buatsi though not the most difficult opponent. Ronald McIntosh is absolutely doing my head in.

If he hadn't had something protecting his body that would have been over a lot earlier

Yeah R Mac's voice is so irritating. He's doing a decent job, he just sounds OTT at times. Loving RW's insight.

i can't stand him either, he doesn't talk like someone speaking to the casual fan, all this 'bent arm shot' 'working to phase 3' to a casual fan he will sound like an alien :rofl:rofl why not just a simple 'nice left hook' or 'this guy likes to work in and out throwing punches in bunches' ?

their voices are dreadful and they over complicate things :good

also why does r mac feel the need to tell us ' boxer x is part of a 6 strong team from country x. 5 men and 1 woman competing' who cares how much team mates they have just tell me whats happening:nut:nut:good
