Have a quick look at the link below for updates mate, Ogogo, Josh Taylor, Sam Maxwell, Callum Smith and Charlie Edwards are two wins away from qualifying. The heavyweight is 3 away from qualifying.

I don't know what happens if Sam Maxwell and Josh Taylor both qualify though? box off? Doing well so far.

I know he does, like I said the heavy's/super heavy's generally have to get further in the competition than other weights to qualify, hence him having to win.

Also it depends on who has qualified at earlier events as there are qualifiers in each continent so they have to divide the spare spaces accordingly.

if Sam Maxwell and Josh Taylor both qualify they will have a box off back in the UK. I think its best 2 out of 3.

Isn't it kinda unfair that England, Scotland and Wales can enter the qualifier? In the Olympics it's only Great Britian and only one can be represented in each class - but when all three countries can enter the qualifier, they triple the chances of getting a man through.

Does anyone know why it's like this?

I don't know, we fight individually in most competitions? we can't have more than 1 in each weightclass though so its not exactly an advantage once we get there. If someone qualifies it makes no difference whether someone else in the same weightclass has qualified. For example, Selby would have qualified even if khalid yafai didn't take part.

Like a lot of other sports in the worlds, euros & commonwealth games all the British nations compete individually.

    In the Olympics its teamGB.

Yeah, I believe it's individual in all competitions except for the Olympics. I know that both Selby and Yafai qualified at the Worlds last year, but Selby won the box offs.

Maybe Wikipedia knows more about why only Great Britain is represented at the Olympics...

Sam Maxwell won 20-10 but was dropped in the last round, least he is through. We have two quarter finalists in 60kgs, Maxwell will have the Turkish lad tomorrow and they seem to be winning every bout... coincidentally it is in Turkey...
