Thoughts and prayers with this guy, He's got pancreatic cancer. Saw a thread in GF.

Friends surrounding the unbeaten fighter admit that “it’s not looking good for him right now, but he’s still fighting. One day at a time” as he eyes February 8, when he turns just 26 years old. Henry hopes to make it to that point, but it’s far from the only goal has he set for 2013.

“I’m coming back by the end of the year,” insists Henry (12-0-1, 9KO), whose last fight was a ten-round shutout over Tyrone Selders last June. The Chicago-born fighter – who now calls Houston home – didn’t quite take to his first attempt at chemotherapy, but is scheduled for a second treatment on Monday.

He's been in hospital for two months now. Horrible news lads and this is how quick things can change in life. Hope like all sufferer's he pulls through.

Doesn't seem good mate, I presume it's advanced. Not clued up on Cancer. Scary stuff..

When I read this stuff happening to boxers it gets to me that little bit more because this is the only sport I follow
Hope he can make a miracle comeback the support he'd get again if he fought would be nuts

26 years old. That is brutal. Life seems very cruel.

Poor guy, horrible for anyone to go through that...

 

Cancer in general is bad. Pancreatic cancer is one of the very worst.

This is awful news. Poor guy.

The stats....from American Cancer Society.

5-year relative survival for pancreatic cancer
Stage IA 37%
Stage IB 21%
Stage IIA 12%
Stage IIB 6%
Stage III 2%
Stage IV 1%

You gotta think if only 37% survive more than 5 years with stage I the prognosis for stage 4 is extremely, extremely poor.

Wish the guy all the luck in the world, truly awful.

 

I also read something from a cancer specialist who has never seen anyone survive more than 18 months w/ stage 4 pancreatic and the vast majority die within 6 months to a year at best. Not statistics, but anecdotal evidence this is really bad. The guys dropped to 130lbs so he's obviously getting more and more frail.

Shocked.

 

Very sad news, my thoughts are with him. 1% is only a statistic though, so hopefully he will be that 1% and make a recovery :-/

 

Didn't Micheal Douglas beat stage IV cancer?

Altough he had throat cancer but I'm sure that was not a walk in the park either.
