This is the best advice so far. I'm a southpaw myself and the tactics mentioned do work if executed well of course, although I would be tempted to try and stay close to the guy and make it a battle between his right and your left, a fencing match between lead hands is where his familiarity with righties comes into play. Do you know what the guys record is greg?

the guy is 5-0 although I'm a patchy 5-9 ive got alot more experiance. Best way to learn. Im quite interested in it now. #I enjoyed it anyway.
If all else fails, Antuofermo said, "They're only southpaws until you get 'em inside." (I don't think he was the first to say it, but he's the one I remember. Of course he was also stopped by southpaws Hope, Minter and Hagler, but he did give the latter two hell first time around.)
Watched Hagler vs Geraldo, and it is a very entertaining fight and I had forgotten how good it was. Hagler did seem in controll as he landed the harder shots and was just the class above but geraldo caused alot of problems especially in the middle rounds. The biggest problem Geraldo poses is he only fights in flurries so whilst he isnt attacking he is focussed on defence and very tricky to hit. But his sucess with neautrilising Haglers southpaw advantage by circling to his left that made Hagler have to get himself set every time he wanted to punch, and also it allowed geraldo to jab.

My most vivid memory was of the way Geraldo did circle to his left, controlling the movement in the ring according to his own preference instead of Marv's. When Ali defended against Mildenberger, I felt he was sort of "pandering" to the German southpaw by continually circling right, directly towards Karl's left to the body. Mildenberger really nailed him with that blow to the stomach only once that I saw (doubling him over), but he could have tried exploiting Muhammad's counterclockwise movement considerably more than he did. (Holmes circled right with speed in the first match with Shavers, and I dare say he looked better at it than Ali did against Mildenberger. SRL also circled right a great deal, normally an awkward way for an orthodox boxer to move.) Ten years later, Ali didn't express much concern about dealing with southpaw Dunn, but went straight to work with those right leads, and picked him apart. My favorite one round shellacking of a world class southpaw was Cuevas/Backus. Pipino was best known for his deadly hook, but he put it in storage for this one, and winged lead rights to Billy's head from the opening bell, driving him back and clockwise. Cuevas is not thought of as a strategist, but he was a competent one within his slugging limitations, and this was never more evident than when he retired Backus in three minutes with a fractured eye socket.
Yeh i'll PM you the links Although theyre all pretty old and I aint had a fight filme din a while but will get oen this saturday. I myself circle to the right alot against orthodox's so it has been hard trying to not do it. I'll watch Cuevas vs Backus, see what I think about it.

You are not going to find a better fighter to watch to learn the trade in this era. A lot of fighters in this era have watched Jersey Joe Walcott. Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore to pick up tips. Future fighters will likley watch Hopkins.
