Apparntley Ortiz camp wants a 143 catchweight, Berto camp wants 147. Dibella is confident that Ortiz will take the 147 and negotiations will go through. Good fight IMO both need to prove something and if the loser goes out like a *****, they could become a gatekeeper
Ortiz is not ready for this kind or fight, and I honestly don't think he will ever be. Easy fight for Berto in my eyes. Berto has the speed to counter and the pop to scare the crap out of sissy Ortiz.

Interesting fight. I can envision Ortiz' power being able to trouble Berto or worse. Ultimately I think Berto's speed and explosiveness would overwhelm the will of Ortiz. Hope they can come to an agreement.

Ortiz has no reason to ask for a catchweight. If he's had a hard time making 140 lately, he would stand to benefit at welterweight.
I would be so pissed if I was Aydin. Well Berto-Ortiz sounds like a good fight and Ortiz could possibly outbox and/or stop him so the danger is still there though Berto is still fighting a 140 pounder again.(sigh)
Berto wants the big name fights, and losing to Cintron, which is very possible, de-rails that gravy train. Basically, Berto doesn't want to work his way to the top the hard way, he wants it handed to him. Shame...
If Ortiz didnt have a vagina between his legs, I'd give a real shot against Berto.... but he does have a vagina. Berto's speed is gonna intimidate Ortiz. Victor has never really faced anyone before who had a speed edge over him. He's used to fighting slow guys, and old timers. Berto is gonna land first, and I suspect that once he starts tagging Ortiz... Victor will mentally fall apart. I dont like Berto, and he's one of the biggest cherry pickers theres ever been.... but in the ring he has shown heart when pressed. Something Ortiz hasnt shown. This is gonna be a beat down in favor of Berto. And I'll enjoy every moment of it. But if by some chance Ortiz does KO him.... great! I cant stand either one of them!
He wont get the catch weight. Only Floyd, Manny, and Cotto are big enough stars to demand catch weights.... Ortiz is a nobody. Thats basically what Dibella said as well, and he's correct.
He also has to deal with more then speed, like quick combination firing right back. And someone naturally larger then him or any other opponewnts he's faced. If Ortiz could get discouraged by Peterson, Berto should be able to take Ortiz fire away.
What a shame. This guy was someone who has all the skills to be a future p4p star but he is missing the one main ingredient to become one. I think he needs to visit the wizard of Oz and get himself a heart!
