I agree about the over-hyping. It always seems to happen with guys with power. I can see potential in people but can't get too carried away until I see them vs some serious competition.
He killed a man in the ring. I am in no way making light of such a tragedy, but I don't think you can overhype that kind of power.
his power dwarfs a guy like Wilder. He is knocking out guys who have never been KO'd and reigning world titlists , not handing guys their 7th straight loss, 6 by KO
I'm not at all saying That wilder is better, just mean that Kovalev does not usually KO guys with one punch. He uses his skill and aggression, along with good power, to create the real deal, not hype. I just would like to see him fight,Ward or Froch, to see what he can do with a top level guy who is not likely to break apart after 3 rounds. He may very well beat both of them but he will have to prove that he can. I do think that he can and will, but it will take a while because he will not get a lot of top level guys willing to fight him.
Exactly. Overhyped = not proving anything but having everything, including press coverage and great TV spots handed to you. GGG and Kovalev are the opposite of overhyped. They weren't heard of or appreciated until fans started seeing guys falling over on TV as soon as one or the other tapped an opponent on the chin.
Kovalev must be good! He has only just secured his first belt and already he's started pick up haters. These people must be fearing that he's go on to become an ATG! Even the great J.C [Joe Calzaghe not Jesus] did not pick up his anti-fan club that quick!
wow i can tell the sheer number of dim minded ppl here, that did not read the first post in the thread...they just read the title and ran in here posting....i guess they are on the hype train...some ppl never get off, just jump from one train to another, like a boxcar hobo of hype, lol
Kovalev has superb stamina, very solid power, but who really knows about his chin. Didn't Boone put him down...
