This guy has one notable win... A SD over Provodnikov which many had him losing. He's featherfisted (just 8 KOs in 20 fights, all but one of which were against total cans). He's never even fought at WW, and this guy gets a shot at Pacquiao and his WBO WW title? This is a joke, right?

Pac will knock him out. Provodnikov beat the fecal matter out of Algieri but was robbed...............

A notable win over a "monster" that beat Bradley so bad he'll probably have Parkinson's,and made Alvarado quit on his stool, that's better than fighting. Bradley coming off dominating an ancient Casamayor, or Rios coming off a loss to Mike. It might actually be competitive.

It's not quite the complete farce everyone is making it out to be.

I think stylistically this is actually a somewhat interesting match-up. Algieri has the biggest height/reach advtange Pac has ever faced barring maybe Margarito. But unlike Margarito, he's more a boxer.

He's definitely unproven however. Pac should really aim to get back on track with his KO ways with this one.

*Maidana is not featherfisted, has more than one notable win, has actually had some fights at WW and held a title there, so it was a unification fight. Algieri isn't anywhere near as credible of an opponent, and all the deflection attempts in the world won't change the fact that this fight is a straight up joke

I don't like the fight, but I'm not sure where else Team Pacquiao had to turn. There were 5 names listed

    1) Algieri: Undefeated but relatively unknown. Lack of punching power.

    2) Alvarado: Lost last two fights and has all the makings of a shot fighter.

    3) Marquez: Very few want to see a 5th fight, especially at the price JMM was asking.

    4) Abregu: Can't say I know much about the guy.

    5) Provodnikov: Coming off a loss, but affiliation with Roach might have hindered negotiations. Doubt Pacquiao wants to face that rugged a fighter.

I would have preferred Provodnikov, or any of a number of guys managed by Haymon, but from the possibilities this isn't as bad as Pacquiao/Alvarado.

Unfortunately, looks like Shiming is on undercard so expect a lackluster card from top to bottom.
