pacquiao is often compared to Henry Armstrong because both are weight jumpers who went up in weight and won as if it didnt matter. But its hard to compare fighters from different eras.
How would Manny had done if he fought in Armstrongs day, back when there was only ONE champion per division, back when they were fewer weight classes, back when fighters fought more than once in a month, something unheard of now, and with smaller gloves than today. Look at the number of pro bouts Armstrong had.
So to me what Henry Armstrong accomplished was even more impressive. I'm sure Pac is flattered to be compared to him.

Another thing that impresses me is Armstrong could have been the champion of five divisions back when there were far fewer divisions than there are now. He skipped over 140, and most thought should have gotten the decision over Garcia at 160.

Armstrong went 44-0 over what would be 5 divisions today. Pretty remarkable.

IMO Pac is more comparable to McLarnin than Armstrong. They are quite even all around too.
