That's like saying you;re surprised Klitchko isn't popular in the U.K, France or Spain, being European. They're completely different countries. I have always heard that Pac was popular all over Asia, however, the above situation would not surprise me. As I said, it's a bit lazy grouping a whole continent/region of the world together as though they are one and the same. A lot of diversity exists.

there is a difference between being popular and being liked. Its one thing to say people don't like him, but as long as they know him and watch his fights, then he is popular.

to be fair its more Thailand than the Philippines, and its more like their under-age pre-pubescent girls and ladyboys than women.

Maybe you just cant change some people, however you try to extend your hand in friendship.

It's understandable, there are also some Filipinos who think and speak like some of the posters here, against people from other countries. But it's usually among drinking buddies, not in public, and definitely not to the particular foreigner's face.

We got these kinds of people in every country, in every race.

wow... with a statements like this, the case study should be finito, japan and korea etc. not pac.

the difficulty may not be about pacs fame, but the self absorbed nature of said countries. it's as if any boxer not from within is non existent to them. ie. it's tough for pinoy boxers to get a fight with jap boxers and win their belts because jap boxers like to fight and win the belts within themselves. its as if the rest of the world don't exist.

Filipinos are darker and poorer, it's true but we are better educated than the majority of Asians.
