That statement is probably right but I'm quite happy with Froch at this point. You have to remember he was injured going into this fight and was not 100% and still pulled out the win. As for FOTY material the first half of the fight was pretty damn good but as the later rounds went on i think Froch started to gain control despite a game effort from Pascal. Great fight in my eyes none the less and i think Pascal will be back chasing Titles again as well.

Pick better thread titles that make you appear less of a nob. You saw flaws and little else.

Erm...how about you actually read the opening post from now on and not just the thread title.

Pascal was not more skilled, he fought like a complete ****** fighter.

And could not even throw straight shot's...

If he would of thrown more jabs, and straight punches..he might of won. But over and over again, he just threw big wide shots.

Yes. I have now. You make some very good points and the post is very interesting.

Personally I think Taylor will win the fight. :good

Think we need to see what Pascal goes on to achieve to really rank that win. dont think many going into the fight or after it would have argued that froch was more skilled, but he just has those mental and physical attributes that can sometimes be vastly more important than the actually skill level of 2 fighters, especially in a long hard fight. Pascal simply wilted in the last third of the fight as the punishment took its toll.

The performance wasnt that of an established elite level fighter, but then we have to take into account that this was BY FAR froch hardest fight, and his first against a world class opponent. hopefully he'll have learned alot from it and we'll see a better froch against taylor.

yesihavearm2 - is that you in the avatar ? i assume so.

Considering the guy had a perforated ear and a cracked rib he did 'O' F****** 'K'

I'd like to see how you'd fair against Jean Pascal with those injuries knowing that a couple of million are watching you on TV too.

Exposed... did he lose? did he go down ?

Go watch Pascal flatten Nievas on youtube... Pascal was throwing them shots all night long and Froch took them and roared back with his own.

Only a total CNUT would come on and 'sigh' and 'moan' about such a cracking free fight on domestic television.

    BYE !

you're right about Froch vs Pascal being nowhere near FOTY caliber. And Pascal did lose the fight on poor conditioning. And he was indeed outboxing Froch with superior skill and speed until he slowed down and gassed.

Taylor is kind similar to Pascal. Good speed and nice skills but poor conditioning. Pascal is great preparation for JT

Exposed is quite harsh. It was an entertaining fight between 2 unbeaten prospects. It was the hardest test to date for both men and Froch came through in a tough contest. Froch is never going to be the most skilled and refined fighter in the world but he has enough in his arsenal to give a good account of himself against most of the top 10 SM. I'm picking Taylor to win a 116-112 type UD but i'll be hoping that Froch does himself proud and takes the belt back to Britain. If Taylor comes in overconfident/undertrained then Froch WILL win. Too many people are thinking Taylor just has to turn up to win.

On a side note, i'll be intrigued to see how Pascal comes back from the defeat. I heard he's getting a shot at a LH belt. Any truth to that?

Froch did adapt...slightly. He started off trying to bully Pascal, and when he was getting countered easily he started to use his jab and picked up a few easy rounds.

I agree it was not a FOTY, and Carl was not that impressive.

Its plain to see.....he doesn't like getting clipped, he has no love of the sport outside of the money and when things don't go well he folds.

Pascal's stamina let him down I reckon. I had him winning the first half of the fight but he kept trying to wing big power shots instead of trying to box while he was ahead.

thats true. but the man has only lost twice. he had pavlik in the 2nd and shoud have finished him off and the return was closer than the scorecards suggested. hes still a top operator but i see what your saying, he doesnt have the same hunger he did on the way up

on the other hand i watched the froch fight yesterday whilst dodging work and if Carl Froch fights in the same manner he did hes gona lose by a country mile. the amount of wild shots he got caught with and in the 4th/5th he could have been taken out at a couple points. he fights like a slickster but he has no slickster type defence and his jab isnt quick enough to keep his left hand that low. also i dont think taylor will fight this like a brawl. carl cant flick that jab out then fire one off shots, usually a right uppercut in this fight. hopefully he can pull it out tho, as alluding to your point theres nothing worse than a top fighter in the division walking around with his heart not in it and nevermind whatever **** i said about Carl, his heart is in it 110%
